Job summary

RDO Equipment is seeking a Service Coordinator (Service Supervisor) to lead the Sydney workshop, ensuring exceptional customer service, efficient workflow, and a safe, productive environment. This off-the-tools role suits someone with a technical background who can coordinate technicians and mentor apprentices.

You will report to the Service Manager, assign tasks, train staff, maintain product knowledge, and support warranty and WIP processes while upholding safety standards across the workshop.

Qualifications

• Mechanical or technical background required.
• Mechanical Trade Certificate preferred.
• Experience with diagnostics, electrical, hydraulic and mechanical repairs.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to support and guide a team.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• High-risk work tickets/licences will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Providing excellent customer service over the phone and in person.
• Monitoring and managing daily workshop workflow in line with procedures.
• Assigning jobs to Service Technicians and supporting team members.
• Scheduling and conducting in-house training for Service Technicians and apprentices.
• Maintaining product knowledge and liaising with the Parts Department.
• Assist with the management and resolution of customer concerns and disputes with the Service Manager.
• Supporting the timely completion of warranty claims and WIP requirements.
• Reviewing repair work before equipment is released to customers to ensure quality.
• Driving a strong safety culture and leading by example within the workshop.

About the Role

Reporting to the Service Manager, you will play a key leadership role in the day‑to‑day operation of the workshop, ensuring exceptional customer service, efficient workflow management, and a safe, productive working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing excellent customer service, seeking customer feedback, and offering advice to customers over the phone
• Monitoring and managing daily workshop workflow while ensuring compliance with company procedures and standards
• Assigning jobs to Service Technicians and supporting team members with performance, development, and day-to-day operational matters
• Scheduling and conducting in-house training for Service Technicians and apprentices
• Maintaining product knowledge and liaising with the Parts Department as required
• Assisting with the management and resolution of customer concerns and disputes in conjunction with the Service Manager
• Supporting the timely completion of warranty claims and work-in-progress (WIP) requirements
• Reviewing repair work before equipment is released to customers to ensure quality standards are met
• Driving a strong safety culture and leading by example within the workshop

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• A strong mechanical or technical background
• A Mechanical Trade Certificate (preferred but not essential)
• Experience with diagnostics, electrical, hydraulic and mechanical repairs
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• The ability to support, guide and work with a team
• Good organisational and problem-solving skills
• A mature, logical and methodical approach to your work
• A current and valid driver's licence
• High-risk work tickets and/or licences will be highly regarded
