Job summary

Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service is seeking an organised administrator to provide frontline reception and support across patient and staff inquiries. You will coordinate appointments, transfers and patient movements while assisting clinical teams with documentation and system updates.

Ideal candidates are proficient in Outlook, Word and Excel, comfortable with hospital information systems and able to prioritise competing demands in a patient-focused environment.

About us

Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed major referral hospital and the specialist hub for Central Queensland, supporting patients from across the region and surrounding rural communities. With state-of-the-art facilities and integrated cancer care, it offers a broad range of specialist services including Emergency, ICU, Cardiology, Paediatrics, Surgery, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation and more.

About the role


  • Provide frontline support to patients, visitors and staff, managing enquiries, phone calls and reception services.

  • Coordinate patient flow by organising appointments, transfers, discharges, transport and patient movements.

  • Support nursing and medical teams with administrative tasks, documentation, reporting and patient record management.

  • Manage patient information and hospital systems, including data entry, financial information, scheduling and updating records.

  • Work independently and prioritise competing demands, ensuring an efficient, professional and patient-focused service.


About you


  • Highly organised and self-motivated: Strong prioritisation skills, able to work autonomously and manage competing demands.

  • Confident with technology: Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, with the ability to quickly learn hospital information systems.

  • Strong administrative & medical knowledge: Able to interpret patient information and medical records, with the capacity to quickly develop knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork: Works effectively within multidisciplinary teams and communicates professionally and sensitively with patients, staff and the public.


What we offer

Total monthly remuneration value of up to $8,423 p.m. is comprised of:



  • An hourly rate between $40.17 - $44.67 p.h.

  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution

  • 17.5% leave loading
