Job summary

NSW Department of Communities and Justice is seeking an Aboriginal Teacher to deliver General Education and LLND programs at Long Bay and Junee Correctional Centres. You will plan, develop, deliver and evaluate courses that meet accredited standards, contributing to reduced re-offending and improved community safety.

The role emphasizes culturally informed teaching, learner support, and collaboration with AEVTI across sites. Travel between centres is required within NSW.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or Graduate Diploma in Education with relevant teaching qualifications.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110/TAE40116/TAE40122 or successor) with relevant experience.
• Current NSW driver’s licence and willingness to travel between centres.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver LLND education programs for Aboriginal learners.
• Apply culturally appropriate practices when working with Aboriginal offenders.
• Manage learner enrolments and progress using the education systems.
• Prepare lesson plans and teaching/assessment resources to meet accreditation standards.
• Contribute to offender education reporting and outcomes.
