Job summary

Nortal is seeking a Technical SEO Lead for a fully remote role servicing US-based higher education clients. You will own technical SEO audits, issue prioritization, and dev-ready specs, while also designing Claude-based tools to streamline audits, QA, and content production.

You bring 5+ years in SEO with strong technical SEO experience, proficient in GSC, GA4, Screaming Frog, and Ahrefs/Semrush, and hands-on WordPress knowledge. A leadership mindset across multiple accounts is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in SEO, with at least 3 focused on technical SEO, ideally at an agency or across multiple sites.
• Proven ability to uncover high-impact issues, prioritize them, and drive fixes.
• Hands-on experience with GSC, GA4, Screaming Frog, and Ahrefs or Semrush.
• Strong knowledge of WordPress, themes, plugins, redirects, and schema.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical SEO across client accounts.
• Run technical audits covering crawlability, indexation, site architecture, internal linking, Core Web Vitals, structured data, redirects, and broken links.
• Prioritize issues by impact and effort, and defend those calls.
• Write dev-ready specs for web developers and client teams, then follow through until fixes are released and verified.
• Handle light WordPress implementation, including titles, meta descriptions, plugin-level redirects, and schema.
• Monitor Search Console and GA4 to catch drops, errors, and indexing problems before clients do.
• Own technical readiness for AI search (AEO/GEO) and build Claude-based tools/workflows.
• Design and build Claude-based tools, agents, and workflows for audits, QA, and reporting.
• Build content production systems that translate briefs into near-publish-ready drafts.
• Document systems, train the team, measure time saved and results, retire underperforming ones.
• Support the team and client success; join client calls to explain deep technical topics.
