Job summary

Proofpoint is seeking a Senior DevOps and Data Engineer to join the Data Platform team in a hybrid capacity. You will own the reliability, automation, and delivery of data pipelines and analytics capabilities while building cloud infrastructure on AWS and enabling rapid data product ship‑ups.

You’ll design and operate CI/CD pipelines, establish observability for data workloads, and mentor engineers on best practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in DevOps/platform engineering or SRE.
• Hands-on data engineering experience.
• Deep AWS proficiency: S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, Lambda, ECS/EKS.
• Infra-as-Code with Terraform or AWS CDK.
• CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions, Jenkins or similar.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment, and promotion of data infrastructure.
• Build and manage AWS cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform and/or AWS CDK).
• Own the observability stack for data pipelines with metrics, logs, and alerts.
• Develop and maintain self-service DataOps tooling and templates for rapid pipelines.
• Maintain container and compute infrastructure (Docker, ECS/EKS, or Lambda).
• Operate workflow orchestration environments (MWAA, Airflow, Step Functions).
• Build and optimize AWS Glue ETL jobs for large-scale data ingestion.
• Drive data platform security practices: secrets management and least-privilege IAM.
• Collaborate with teams to translate requirements into scalable infra solutions.
• Lead incident response and post-mortems for data platform outages.
• Mentor engineers on DevOps and data engineering practices.
