Job summary

Proofpoint is seeking a Senior DevOps and Data Engineer to join the Data Platform team in a hybrid role. You’ll own reliability, automation, and delivery of data pipelines and analytics, building cloud infra, CI/CD, and DevOps tooling to accelerate data product delivery.

You’ll contribute to design and operation of data pipelines using AWS Glue, Athena, and S3, while ensuring security and observability. This role blends platform engineering with data engineering responsibilities at scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in DevOps/platform engineering/SRE with data engineering exposure.
• Deep expertise with AWS core services (S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, Lambda, ECS/EKS).
• Hands-on with AWS data services (Glue, Athena, S3 lifecycle/encryption).
• Proficiency with IaC (Terraform and/or AWS CDK).
• Strong CI/CD experience (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Experience with Docker and container orchestration (ECS/EKS/Kubernetes).
• Proven observability design (metrics, logging, tracing, alerting) for data/platform services.
• Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for AWS Glue ETL jobs and Athena views.
• Build and manage AWS cloud infrastructure with IaC (Terraform/CDK).
• Own observability stack with metrics, logs, and alerts for data pipelines.
• Develop DataOps self-service tooling and pipeline templates.
• Manage container and compute infrastructure supporting data ingestion microservices.
• Design and operate workflow orchestration (MWAA/Airflow, Step Functions).
• Develop AWS Glue ETL jobs (PySpark) for large-scale data ingestion/transformation.
• Enforce security best practices: Secrets Manager, least-privilege IAM, network segmentation.
