AgileEngine is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to operate and improve a Snowflake-based enterprise data platform in a regulated healthcare environment. The role requires 5+ years in data engineering, hands-on Snowflake, dbt, AWS, and Python, plus strong data modeling and incident-management skills.

You will own data platform operations during LatAm coverage, optimize pipelines across RAW/ CURATED/ CONSUMPTION, and collaborate across Cloud/DevOps, Analytics, Security, and business stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering or Data Platform Engineering.
• Snowflake experience including data-layer design, warehouse performance, access patterns, and production troubleshooting.
• Advanced SQL skills and strong experience with dbt for transformation, testing, documentation, lineage, and controlled deployment.
• Experience with managed ingestion tools such as Fivetran or HVR and supporting custom data-ingestion pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with AWS data services (S3) and event-driven/file-based ingestion patterns.
• Experience with Argo Workflows on Kubernetes or similar workflow orchestration.
• Proficiency in Python or a comparable language for data engineering and automation.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, pipeline dependencies, schema evolution, backfills, data validation and production data quality.
• Experience with observability, logging, alerting, and incident-management practices for production data platforms.
• Ability to lead complex incident resolution, root-cause analysis, and preventive improvements.
• Ability to make well-reasoned technical decisions, estimate work, and guide platform improvements.
• Experience mentoring engineers and collaborating with Cloud/DevOps, Analytics, Security, Governance, and business stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills; able to work with client stakeholders.
• Full availability to work 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Pacific Time and participate in on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical ownership for the Data Platform service tower during LatAm coverage window and handle day-to-day operations and escalations.
• Operate and improve Snowflake production and non-production environments, including configuration, monitoring, lifecycle, and production changes.
• Administer data access within controls, maintaining least-privilege and audit-ready practices.
• Manage data ingestion across Fivetran, HVR and custom pipelines; configure connectors, scheduling, onboarding, and schema-change coordination.
• Design, build, and maintain pipelines and dbt models across RAW, CURATED, and CONSUMPTION layers with testing and CI/CD.
• Support AWS S3 data-lake operations, including lifecycle, access patterns, and downstream Snowflake workloads.
• Coordinate with Cloud/DevOps on Argo Workflows and Kubernetes-hosted data workloads; scheduling, troubleshooting and deployment.
• Define and improve data quality and observability standards including freshness, row counts, nulls, and schema drift checks.
• Expand end-to-end monitoring and lineage with tools like dbt, Snowflake audit data, Splunk, and alerting stack.
• Lead or support major data incidents, root-cause analysis, post-incident reviews, and preventive actions across ingestion, orchestration, Snowflake and Tableau dependencies.
• Support Tableau Cloud operations where upstream data/connectivity issues require investigation.
• Identify and deliver standardization, automation, reliability, performance, and cost improvements; migrate legacy patterns toward golden paths.
• Execute work through incident, request, access, change, and release processes with established workflows.
• Create runbooks, operating procedures, architecture context, and knowledge-transfer materials.
• Mentor mid-level engineers, review technical work, and ensure effective handoffs across the distributed team.
• Participate in Data Platform on-call rotation for critical incidents outside staffed hours.
