Job summary

Proofpoint seeks a Senior DevOps and Data Engineer to join the Data Platform team. This hybrid role blends platform engineering and data infrastructure, owning reliability, automation, and delivery of data pipelines and analytics.

You'll build cloud infrastructure on AWS (IaC), manage CI/CD for Glue/ Athena, and ensure observability with metrics and logs. Collaboration with data engineers and security teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering, with at least 2 years of hands-on data engineering work.
• Deep expertise with AWS core services: S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, Lambda, ECS/EKS, Secrets Manager, and CloudFormation/CDK.
• Hands-on experience with AWS data services: Glue ETL, Athena, and S3 lifecycle/encryption.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform and/or AWS CDK).
• Strong CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment, and promotion of AWS Glue ETL jobs and Athena views.
• Build and manage AWS-based cloud infrastructure using IaC (Terraform / CDK).
• Own the observability stack for data pipelines with metrics, logs, and alerts.
• Develop DataOps self-service tooling, templates, and libraries for production pipelines.
• Manage container and compute infrastructure (Docker, ECS/EKS, or Lambda).
• Design and operate workflow orchestration (MWAA / Airflow) including upgrades and scaling.
• Build and maintain AWS Glue ETL jobs (PySpark) for data ingestion/transformation.
• Drive security practices across the data platform (Secrets Manager, least-privilege IAM).
• Collaborate with data teams to translate requirements into scalable infra solutions.
• Lead incident response for data platform outages and perform post-mortems.
