Proofpoint is looking for a Staff Data Engineer to join our Data Platform team. In this senior IC role you will design, build, and operate large-scale data infrastructure on AWS, collaborating with data scientists, product engineers, and business stakeholders to turn raw data into reliable assets.

You will enforce data quality, governance, and scalable pipelines, while mentoring engineers and shaping the technical roadmap. A collaborative, outcomes-driven culture awaits.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software or data engineering experience.
• 4+ years in cloud data platforms.
• Strong Python and Spark (PySpark) production skills.
• Excellent communication and mentoring abilities.

Responsabilités

• Design and implement scalable data pipelines using AWS Glue to ingest petabyte-scale datasets.
• Build and maintain a cloud data lake on S3 with partitioning and data-catalog schemas.
• Enforce data quality with validation, anomaly detection, and SLA-driven alerting.
• Define and drive engineering best practices: code reviews, CI/CD, IaC, DataOps.
• Lead technical design discussions and mentor junior engineers.
• Collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers, and product managers on data models.
• Champion data governance and privacy-by-design across assets.
• Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, drive improvements.
• Contribute to ADRs and technical documentation.
