Job summary

Darwoft is seeking a Senior/Staff Software Engineer to lead AI-native development in a LATAM-based, remote-first team. You will navigate a large production codebase, shape architecture, and drive reliability while leveraging Claude Code and Codex to accelerate delivery.

This is not a traditional ML role; you’ll build production software, collaborate with product leadership, and raise engineering standards. We value ownership, pragmatism, and a builder mindset.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building and operating production software systems.
• Strong fundamentals in architecture, design, debugging, testing, and maintainability.
• Experience with large or complex existing codebases.
• Backend or full-stack experience with modern languages and frameworks.
• Experience building modern web applications and SaaS products.
• Strong understanding of APIs, architecture, data modeling, and distributed systems.
• Experience with relational databases and production data environments.
• Familiarity with cloud environments, CI/CD, deployments, and production operations.

Responsibilities

• Navigate, understand, and evolve a large existing production codebase.
• Design and implement new product capabilities across a complex SaaS platform.
• Make pragmatic architectural and system design decisions as the product scales.
• Identify technical debt, risks, and reliability issues for improvement.
• Use Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, or similar AI agents extensively during development.
• Leverage AI to explore codebases, design implementations, generate and refactor code, debug issues, and accelerate delivery.
• Build and evolve backend services, APIs, data models, and workflows.
• Strengthen automated testing, observability, reliability, and production readiness.
• Improve development workflows, tooling, automation, and engineering practices.
• Troubleshoot cross-layer issues and balance speed with quality.
• Collaborate with product leadership to translate business problems into technical solutions.
• Help a small team achieve greater development leverage through AI-assisted engineering.
