Job summary

Hire Hangar, Inc. is seeking a Technical SEO Lead for remote work with a US-based higher education marketing agency. You will oversee technical SEO across a portfolio of partner accounts, identify issues, and write developer-friendly specs.

You’ll also build Claude-based tools and workflows to streamline audits, reporting, QA, and content production. The role requires 5+ years in SEO (3+ in technical SEO), strong GSC/GA4/Screaming Frog/Ahrefs/SEMrush experience, and solid WordPress knowledge.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in SEO, with at least 3 focused on technical SEO, ideally at an agency or across multiple sites
• A track record of uncovering high-impact issues and prioritizing fixes
• Hands-on experience with GSC, GA4, Screaming Frog, and Ahrefs/SEMrush
• Strong WordPress knowledge to spec fixes precisely
• Advanced hands-on experience with Claude and AI-assisted workflows
• Clear written communication: writing specs for developers and client understanding
• Ability to own outcomes across many accounts simultaneously
• Bonus: AI search visibility (AEO/GEO) experience
• Bonus: familiarity with Grammarly, Asana or similar tools
• Experience in higher education or enrollment marketing

Responsibilities

• Lead technical SEO across client accounts
• Run technical audits: crawlability, indexation, architecture, internal linking, Core Web Vitals, structured data, redirects, broken links
• Prioritize issues by impact and effort, defend decisions
• Write dev-ready specs and oversee implementation until fixes are live
• Handle light WordPress tasks: titles, meta descriptions, plugin redirects, schema via Yoast/Rank Math
• Monitor GSC and GA4 for drops, errors, indexing problems
• Prepare AI-ready strategies for AI search (AEO/GEO)
• Build scalable SEO systems and Claude-based tools for audits, reporting, QA
• Create content production systems from briefs and client rules
• Translate standards into reusable team systems
• Integrate Search Console, GA4, crawl exports, Ahrefs/Semrush into workflows
• Document systems and train team, measure time saved and results
• Support team and client success on technical topics
• Assist on client calls with deep technical explanations
• Evaluate emerging search technologies and new tools
