Job summary

Abstra is seeking a Technical SEO Lead to own the technical SEO across a portfolio of higher education clients, working remotely for a US-based marketing agency. You'll conduct audits, write developer-ready specs, and guide fixes end-to-end while building Claude-based tools and workflows to automate audits, reporting, QA, and content production for scalable SEO services.

Role collaborates with the SEO Lead and supports the Executive Director of SEO, evaluating AI search readiness and shaping

Qualifications

• 5+ years in SEO, with at least 3 focused on technical SEO
• Track record of uncovering high-impact issues and prioritizing fixes
• Hands-on experience with Google Search Console, GA4, Screaming Frog, and Ahrefs or Semrush
• Strong WordPress knowledge to spec fixes precisely
• Advanced experience with Claude for AI-assisted workflows

Responsibilities

• Lead technical SEO across client accounts
• Run technical audits covering crawlability, indexation, site architecture, internal linking, Core Web Vitals, structured data, redirects, and broken links
• Prioritize issues by impact and effort, and defend those calls
• Write dev-ready specs for web developers and client teams, then follow through until fixes are released and verified
• Handle light WordPress implementation: titles, meta descriptions, plugin redirects, and schema
• Monitor Google Search Console and GA4 to catch drops, errors, and indexing problems
• Own technical readiness for AI search (AEO/GEO): crawler access, structured data, entity optimization
• Build systems that scale the SEO service and Claude-based tools for audits, reporting, and QA
• Create content production systems that convert briefs and targets into drafts
• Document systems and train the team on them
