Job summary

Technical SEO Lead for a U.S.-based higher education marketing agency is a fully remote role overseeing a portfolio of client accounts. You will tackle technical audits, implement dev-ready specs for developers, and drive AI-enabled workflows that streamline audits, reporting, QA, and content production.

You will build Claude-based tools and scalable systems, collaborate with the SEO Lead and Executive Director of SEO, and own outcomes across multiple accounts while staying ahead of AI search

Qualifications

• 5+ years in SEO with at least 3 focused on technical SEO, ideally across multiple sites
• Track record of uncovering highest-impact issues and prioritizing fixes
• Hands-on experience with Google Search Console, GA4, Screaming Frog, and Ahrefs or Semrush
• Strong WordPress knowledge to spec fixes precisely
• Advanced hands-on experience with Claude, building agents and AI-assisted workflows
• Clear written communication enabling specs for developers and client-ready recommendations
• Ability to own outcomes across many accounts simultaneously

Responsibilities

• Lead technical SEO across client accounts
• Run technical audits covering crawlability, indexation, site architecture, internal linking, Core Web Vitals, structured data, redirects, and broken links
• Prioritize issues by impact and defend those calls
• Write dev-ready specs and follow through until fixes are released
• Handle light WordPress implementation: titles, meta descriptions, plugin redirects, and schema (Yoast/Rank Math)
• Monitor Google Search Console and GA4 for drops, errors, and indexing problems
• Own technical readiness for AI search (AEO/GEO): crawler access, structured data, entity optimization
• Build scalable systems for the SEO service and Claude-based tools/workflows
• Create content production systems turning briefs into near-publish drafts
• Document systems and train the team, measuring time saved and results
• Support the team and client success as a go-to resource on technical questions
• Join client calls to explain deep technical topics with the SEO Lead
• Evaluate emerging search technologies and recommend new tools and processes
