Job summary

Howard is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant / Tax Professional to join a US-based firm in a fully remote role. The candidate will align with US Eastern Time hours and support US clients with accounting, tax, bookkeeping, and payroll tasks.

The role emphasizes technical accounting judgment, independent problem-solving, and clear communication. Strong English, CPA/EA preferred, and ability to adapt to new platforms are important.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally supporting U.S.-based clients
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and tax concepts
• Strong written and spoken English
• Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment
• Able to work U.S. Eastern Time business hours

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized Level 2 support for US accounting, tax, bookkeeping, and payroll inquiries
• Investigate and resolve escalated accounting and tax tickets
• Review and troubleshoot bookkeeping discrepancies, reconciliations, and transactions
• Assist customers with tax-related inquiries, notices, and filing status questions
• Support payroll questions, setup, processing issues, and troubleshooting
• Communicate findings via Zendesk, email-style tickets, and scheduled phone support
• Independently investigate issues and identify root causes
• Document resolutions and maintain accurate customer records
• Identify recurring issues and opportunities to improve workflows and knowledge resources
• Adapt to new internal systems and AI-assisted workflows
