Job summary

Proofpoint seeks a Senior DevOps and Data Engineer to join the Data Platform team. This hybrid role focuses on reliability, automation, and delivering data pipelines and analytics capabilities.

You will manage AWS-first infrastructure, CI/CD tooling, and DevOps processes to empower data engineers to ship data products safely and efficiently. You will design and operate data pipelines using AWS Glue, Athena, and S3, while strengthening security, observability, and developer experience across

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or SRE with at least 2 years in data engineering.
• Deep expertise with AWS core services: S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, Lambda, ECS/EKS, Secrets Manager, and CloudFormation/CDK.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools: Terraform and/or AWS CDK.
• Strong CI/CD experience: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent.
• Experience with containers and orchestration: Docker, ECS/EKS, Kubernetes.
• Proven ability to design observability systems (metrics, logging, tracing) for data and platform services.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment of AWS Glue ETL jobs and Athena views.
• Build and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS using IaC (Terraform/AWS CDK).
• Own observability stack for data pipelines with metrics, logs, and alerts.
• Develop DataOps self-service tooling and templates for production-grade pipelines.
• Manage container and compute infra (Docker, ECS/EKS, Lambda) for data ingestion services.
• Operate workflow orchestration environments (MWAA, Airflow, Step Functions).
• Build and maintain AWS Glue ETL jobs (PySpark) for large-scale data ingestion and transformation.
