Job summary

Political Asylum Lawyers, a Houston-based immigration law firm, seeks an Accounting & Finance Manager (Hands-on) to lead the firm’s financial operations, including accounting systems, billing, accounts receivable, cash flow forecasting, financial reporting, trust accounting compliance, payroll oversight, tax coordination, internal controls, and finance-related projects.

This hands-on role will learn the firm’s systems, work with staff, and establish reliable financial operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services.
• Strong understanding of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, A/R, A/P, payroll, and month-end close.
• Experience with billing systems, client payment plans, collections, and accounts receivable management.
• Experience managing or reviewing trust/IOLTA accounting and reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day financial operations, including billing, A/R, A/P, payroll and trust accounting.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and reports; oversee budgeting and forecasting.
• Maintain internal controls and risk management; ensure compliance and accurate financial data.
• Oversee billing, collections, chargebacks, refunds, and client payment disputes.
• Collaborate with Owner/CFO on strategic planning, pricing, and cash flow planning.
• Supervise finance staff and external service providers; drive process improvements.
