Political Asylum Lawyers, a Houston-based immigration law firm, seeks an Accounting & Finance Manager (Hands-on). You will oversee financial operations, accounting systems, billing, payroll, cash flow forecasting, and reporting, while maintaining strict internal controls and trust accounting compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services.
• Strong understanding of general accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, A/R, A/P, payroll, and month-end close.
• Experience managing or reviewing trust/IOLTA accounting and reconciliations.
• Experience with billing systems, client payment plans, collections, and accounts receivable management.
• Strong proficiency with Excel and accounting software; ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial leaders.

Responsibilities

• Own day‑to‑day financial operations, working with staff and service providers and documenting procedures.
• Maintain accurate accounting, billing, A/R, A/P, payroll, trust accounting, and tax coordination.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and analyses; identify discrepancies and report findings.
• Develop budgets and forecasts; monitor cash flow and provide variance explanations.
• Oversee billing, collections, A/R aging, and client payment plans; improve processes.
• Maintain internal controls and support audits, tax prep, and financial reviews.
• Lead the finance team and oversee external vendors; drive continuous process improvements.
