EPAM Systems, Inc. is seeking a Lead Database Engineer to architect and optimize Cassandra-based data platforms at scale.

The role emphasizes data modeling, cluster provisioning, and performance tuning across Java and Linux environments, with emphasis on CI/CD and cloud integrations. The ideal candidate will drive NoSQL design decisions, lead development teams, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure reliable, scalable data infrastructure and observability using Opscenter,

Formación

• Minimum of five years of practical experience in the field.
• At least one year leading and directing development teams.
• Extensive expertise in Cassandra or comparable NoSQL design.
• Exposure to Astra or AWS Keyspaces technologies.
• Hands-on Cassandra data modeling, keyspaces, tables, indexes, and permissions.
• Deep understanding of Cassandra internals: gossip, hinted handoff, read repair, Merkle trees.
• Familiarity with Linux environments and Java configuration.
• Working knowledge of MongoDB.
• Understanding tombstones, GC, and purging practices.
• Experience managing clusters with Opscenter, Devcenter, Linux, Spark.
• Ability to write CQL queries for Cassandra environments.
• Foundational CI/CD pipeline setup experience.
• Strong communication with English proficiency (B2+).

Responsabilidades

• Map out Cassandra cluster rollouts by data volume and hardware needs.
• Set up, install, and configure brand-new Cassandra clusters.
• Monitor cluster uptime and performance with monitoring tools.
• Convert and export data for downstream applications.
• Use indexing strategies to ensure efficient queries.
• Back up and recover data to safeguard systems.
• Tune JVM, caches, and compaction settings for performance.
• Run stress tests on Cassandra clusters and analyze results.
