EPAM Systems, Inc. is seeking a Chief Backend Java Developer to lead the design and delivery of enterprise-grade data integration solutions.

You will own end-to-end backend architecture on AWS, crafting scalable routes with Apache Camel, and ensuring robust REST APIs while guiding a team of developers. You will work with modern Java (17/21), Kafka, and AI-assisted coding tools, shaping platform decisions and driving best practices across the engineering organization.

Formación

• 7+ years in enterprise-level software development with a track record delivering and maintaining large systems in production.
• Minimum 2 years directing and overseeing a team of developers.
• Advanced Java (17/21) with Spring Boot experience.
• Solid Kafka experience, especially in moving away from SQS-based systems.
• Ability to design and implement REST APIs from concept to completion.
• Experience integrating applications using Apache Camel.
• AWS platform experience for developing and supporting cloud-based solutions.
• Experience with unit, integration, and performance testing; solid software architecture skills.
• Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MS SQL.
• English fluency at Upper-Intermediate (B2) or above.

• Build and maintain a cloud-based data integration solution on AWS.
• Plan new integration routes and develop reusable modules for evolving business needs.
• Oversee releases, troubleshoot production incidents, and ensure system stability.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and guide key design choices.
• Deliver clean, maintainable code and enforce team coding standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Review teammates' code to ensure quality and promote knowledge sharing.
• Identify and resolve technical obstacles across development phases.
