QC painting, coating, fireproofing, and refractory Inspector
Job Purpose:
To ensure all painting, coating, fireproofing, and refractory works comply with ADNOC, international standards (e.g., ISO, NACE, SSPC, ASTM), and project specifications. The inspector will monitor quality control activities to prevent defects and ensure durability in harsh environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection & Compliance:
- Conduct inspections of surface preparation (blasting, cleaning), coating application, fireproofing, and refractory installation.
- Verify compliance with ADNOC, ISO 12944, NACE SP0188, SSPC standards, and project specifications.
- Ensure proper material storage, mixing, and application (e.g., epoxy, polyurethane, intumescent coatings, refractory linings).
Testing & Documentation:- Perform DFT (Dry Film Thickness), adhesion tests (cross-cut, pull-off), holiday detection, and humidity/temperature checks.
- Review contractor QC reports, ITPs (Inspection Test Plans), and MDRs (Material Delivery Records).
- Maintain inspection records, NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), and close-out dossiers.
Coordination & Reporting:- Liaise with contractors, engineers, and third-party agencies (e.g., NACE-certified inspectors).
- Report deviations to the QC Lead/Project Manager and recommend corrective actions.
HSE & Standards:- Ensure all works follow ADNOC HSE guidelines and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations.
- Monitor environmental conditions (e.g., dew point, salinity) for coating application.
Qualifications & Experience:- Education: Diploma/Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or Corrosion) or NACE/BGAS certification (Level 2 or higher).
- Experience: minimum 5 years in QC inspection of painting/coating/fireproofing/refractory in oil & gas (ADNOC experience preferred).
- Standards Knowledge: ADNOC COP, NACE SP0108, ASTM D4541, API 936 (Refractory), IMO FTP Code (fireproofing).
- Software: Proficient in MS Office, SAP, and QC documentation tools.
Skills & Competencies:- Attention to detail for spotting defects (e.g., pinholes, delamination).
- Strong knowledge of corrosion protection systems for offshore/onshore structures.
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures and meet tight deadlines.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- NACE CIP Level 2 or BGAS-CSWIP Painting Inspector.
- OSHA or IOSH HSE certification.
- ADNOC-approved training (e.g., ADNOC JHA, Permit to Work).
