The Year 6 Section Leader plays a key role in managing academic performance, teaching standards, and student progress within the Year 6 phase. This position supports both staff and students by providing leadership, curriculum oversight, and effective collaboration with senior management to maintain high standards of learning and student wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Year 6 teaching team to ensure high-quality teaching and learning across all curriculum areas.
• Oversee lesson planning, assessment strategies, and progress tracking to improve student academic performance.
• Support teachers through mentoring, daily guidance, and leadership across classroom delivery and school operations.
• Monitor teaching quality and ensure British curriculum standards are consistently maintained.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to implement school policies and support school improvement plans.
• Review student attainment data and develop strategies to strengthen academic outcomes.
• Maintain strong communication with parents and carers regarding student progress, welfare, and school events.
• Support student wellbeing, behaviour management, and positive classroom culture across the section.
• Contribute actively to school events, extracurricular activities and wider educational programs.
• Assist with inspections, reporting, and academic documentation as required by school leadership.
• Promote teamwork, professional development, and continuous improvement within the Year 6 team.
