Role Context
The Year6 Section Leader - Primary will help manage the academic, pastoral, and operational responsibilities of the Year6 section within a British curriculum school in Dubai. The role involves leading teachers, overseeing planning and assessment, tracking student progress, supporting school improvement priorities, and maintaining strong communication with parents and carers. The successful candidate will contribute to a positive learning environment and support smooth day‑to‑day section operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Year6 teaching team to ensure consistent, high‑quality teaching and learning.
- Support curriculum planning, lesson delivery, assessment, and academic standards across the Year6 phase.
- Monitor and track student progress, identifying learning gaps and supporting intervention strategies where required.
- Oversee planning documentation, assessment records, progress data, and classroom learning expectations.
- Mentor and guide Year6 teachers by offering day‑to‑day support, professional advice, and practical leadership.
- Encourage effective teaching practices, student engagement, and positive classroom management across the section.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to implement school policies, curriculum expectations, and improvement initiatives.
- Support the development of a structured, inclusive, and motivating learning environment for Year6 students.
- Communicate with parents and carers regarding student progress, welfare, academic performance, and school activities.
- Coordinate with teachers, coordinators, and leadership teams to maintain smooth section operations.
- Support student wellbeing, behaviour expectations, safeguarding procedures, and pastoral care within the Year6 phase.
- Contribute to extracurricular activities, school events, assemblies, parent meetings, and wider school initiatives.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and professional standards among section staff.
- Help prepare students for academic transition and continued success in the next stage of learning.
Ideal Profile
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably within a primary school setting.
- Strong teaching experience in a British curriculum school is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the British curriculum and Year6 learning expectations.
- Proven ability to lead, guide, motivate, and inspire a team of teachers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong classroom management, planning, assessment, and student progress tracking skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership, teachers, parents, and students.
- Confident in mentoring colleagues and supporting teaching quality across the section.
