Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates seeks a Warranty Engineer to manage warranty obligations for major substation projects and act as the primary client contact. The role requires hands-on experience with GIS/AIS substations, switchgear, transformers, and protection systems, coordinating cross-functionally to ensure timely resolution of warranty matters.

You will lead root cause analyses, work with engineering and OEM teams, and ensure safety and adherence to utility standards.

Qualifications

• Experience with GIS and AIS substations at high voltage levels (132kV, 220kV, 400kV).
• TAQA competency in PLANT-GIS, transformer & auxiliary systems.
• Knowledge of power transformers and reactors.
• Experience with GIS switchgear and circuit breakers.
• Experience with protection relays and control systems.
• Familiarity with cable systems and associated accessories.
• Experience with battery and DC systems.
• Proven ability in testing and commissioning procedures.
• Strong root cause analysis (RCA) methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Manage all warranty obligations for DEWA, TAQA, ADNOC, SEWA substations, DRPC projects and containerized stations.
• Act as primary contact for warranty issues raised by clients.
• Receive, record, track, and close warranty claims within contractual response times.
• Maintain warranty logs, progress reports, and closure documentation.
• Ensure compliance with warranty and defect liability period requirements.
• Investigate reported equipment failures, defects, and operational abnormalities.
• Lead RCA activities and prepare technical investigation reports.
• Coordinate with engineering, commissioning, quality, and OEM teams for corrective actions.
• Verify implementation and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor equipment reliability and recurring issues.
• Attend substations for troubleshooting and technical support.
• Prepare method statements, client approvals, and permits to work.
• Hands-on experience in substation installation, testing & commissioning of switchgear, protection relays, and scheme checks.
• Coordinate site mobilization of service engineers and specialist resources.
• Supervise repair, replacement, testing, and recommissioning activities.
• Manage petty cash and local purchasing within approved limits.
• Ensure warranty works are executed safely per utility standards.
• Interface with DEWA, TAQA, consultants, and end users.
• Participate in technical meetings on equipment performance and warranty concerns.
• Provide periodic status updates and warranty performance reports.
• Maintain high customer satisfaction through timely issue resolution.
