Job summary

You will coordinate across clients, consultants and subcontractors, review architectural, interior and MEP designs, and ensure buildability and UAE standards compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree in architecture, civil or architectural engineering.
• 8+ years' experience in fit-out, interiors or construction.
• Experience with major fit-out or Tier 1 contractors.
• Experience coordinating architectural, interior design and MEP.
• Strong knowledge of UAE construction standards and regulations.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience on high-end commercial/hospitality/mixed-use fit-out projects is advantageous.

Technical Design Manager – Tier 1 Fit-Out Contractor

A leading Tier 1 fit-out contractor in Dubai is looking to appoint an experienced Technical Design Manager to join their technical and project delivery team.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing the technical design process from concept through to construction, ensuring that design information is fully coordinated, technically robust and aligned with project requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong design professional with a background in high-end fit-out, interiors or construction to join a well-established contractor delivering major projects across the UAE.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the technical design process throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate design information between clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal project teams.
• Review architectural, interior design, MEP and specialist design information to ensure coordination and buildability.
• Manage the production, review and approval of shop drawings, technical submittals and design documentation.
• Identify design clashes, technical issues and potential construction challenges before they impact delivery.
• Work closely with project teams to develop practical and cost-effective design solutions.
• Coordinate with consultants and design teams to resolve RFIs and technical queries.
• Ensure all design information is delivered in line with project programmes and construction requirements.
• Review drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements and relevant standards.
• Provide technical guidance to site and project teams throughout construction.
• Manage and coordinate specialist subcontractor and supplier design submissions.
• Support value engineering and design optimisation initiatives where appropriate.
• Attend design coordination, technical and project meetings with clients, consultants and stakeholders.
• Ensure design changes are properly documented, coordinated and communicated to the relevant project teams.

Requirements

• Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of relevant experience within fit-out, interiors or construction.
• Strong experience working for a major fit-out contractor or Tier 1 contractor.
• Proven experience managing technical design coordination on complex projects.
• Strong understanding of architectural detailing, construction methodologies and buildability.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design information, including architectural, interior design and MEP.
• Strong knowledge of shop drawings, technical submittals, RFIs and design approval processes.
• Experience working directly with consultants, clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Strong understanding of UAE construction standards and regulations.
• Excellent communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Experience delivering high-end commercial, hospitality, residential or mixed-use fit-out projects would be highly advantageous.
