Role Context The Structural Inspector will provide hands‑on construction oversight for structural and civil works on infrastructure projects in Dubai. The position requires regular field inspection to ensure contractor activities, installed materials, demolition works, and new structural construction meet contractual and technical requirements. Beyond physical inspection, the role contributes to reliable project controls through daily reporting, quantity calculations, as‑built records, material documentation, and verification of completed works. The inspector will also identify potential conflicts and nonconforming activities early enough for corrective measures to be implemented without unnecessary disruption to construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect structural construction activities and verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Monitor demolition of structural elements and confirm work follows approved construction and safety procedures.
  • Inspect structural works associated with roads, substations, tunnels, bridges, and related infrastructure.
  • Verify that only approved construction materials are incorporated into permanent works.
  • Review material documentation, Certificates of Compliance, Safety Data Sheets, inspection tags, and supporting technical records.
  • Identify defective or nonconforming work and maintain appropriate inspection documentation.
  • Participate in determining practical resolutions for identified nonconformance where required.
  • Recognize potential construction conflicts and advise supervisors on possible corrective solutions.
  • Maintain daily site diaries describing completed work, observations, resources, and relevant construction events.
  • Prepare daily inspection reports and other documentation required under the project contract.
  • Maintain organized project files and supporting inspection records.
  • Perform quantity calculations and maintain records of installed and completed works.
  • Verify installed quantities used to support contractor payment applications.
  • Review quantities associated with variations, change orders, and additional works within the assigned inspection scope.
  • Assist with review of progress payment estimates and extra work documentation.
  • Maintain accurate as‑built plans and verify that construction changes are properly recorded.
  • Coordinate surveying and materials testing activities performed by specialist subconsultants.
  • Support development and implementation of project quality control procedures.
  • Contribute inspection information to quality reports and construction records.
  • Assist with development of job safety practices and site safety reporting.
  • Recognize hazardous working conditions and initiate appropriate escalation or corrective action.
  • Maintain awareness of public safety while inspecting active construction areas.
  • Conduct labor compliance interviews where required by the project.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior inspectors when assigned.
  • Respond to project site call-backs in emergency situations when required.
  • Coordinate effectively with engineers, contractors, testing teams, surveyors, and other construction personnel.
Ideal Profile

Ideal Profile Candidates should hold a diploma or bachelor 's degree in Civil Engineering, a related engineering discipline, or an equivalent recognized qualification. A minimum of five years of regional experience working in the capacity of Structural Inspector is required. Candidates should understand public works contracts and the construction processes associated with major civil and structural infrastructure. The ability to accurately read and interpret engineering plans, construction drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements is essential. Practical mathematical capability is required for engineering calculations, quantity verification, graphs, charts, progress measurements, and payment-related assessments. Candidates should have effective daily diary and technical reporting skills together with an understanding of construction scheduling. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, project management software, and standard online research tools is required. The successful candidate should be capable of recognizing unsafe construction conditions and taking appropriate action to reduce risk. Strong time management, sound judgment, teamwork, and clear written and verbal English communication are important for this field-based position. Relevant authority certification or approval and HSE training will be advantageous. Construction safety training, including 10-hour OSHA training, is preferred.
