Context

The Senior Hook‑up Engineer supports successful project delivery during the hook‑up and completion phase by translating engineering, construction, material, and commissioning requirements into practical execution plans. The role works closely with hook‑up leadership, offshore construction crews, warehouse teams, fabrication teams, commissioning teams, procurement, planners, and project management to ensure work packs, job cards, schedules, materials, permits, and readiness activities are aligned before offshore mobilization. Strong performance in this position helps reduce offshore delays, improve construction productivity, manage execution risk, and maintain safety and quality during complex energy project campaigns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review hook‑up job cards with clear prerequisites, sequential installation steps, completion activities, and discipline‑specific execution requirements.
  • Develop the work breakdown structure for assigned discipline scope and align it with construction, commissioning, and project planning needs.
  • Review construction work packs to confirm compliance with project specifications, execution requirements, quality expectations, and offshore readiness.
  • Prepare hook‑up schedules for discipline activities with efficient sequencing and proper synchronization across other engineering and construction disciplines.
  • Participate in pre‑engineering surveys, pre‑construction surveys, post‑installation surveys, yard visits, and offshore site coordination activities.
  • Develop and maintain the constructability log while monitoring weekly action closeout and escalating delays where required.
  • Review design material take‑offs and verify offshore contingency material requirements for discipline work scope.
  • Review material requisitions against project specifications before ordering and coordinate delivery requirements across yard, port, offshore, and onshore locations.
  • Monitor hook‑up progress registers and ensure progress tracking methodology is aligned with approved job cards and field execution requirements.
  • Coordinate with warehouse teams to confirm project material receiving status and inspection clearance from quality teams.
  • Liaise with fabrication teams for handover of fabricated materials, loose shipped items, and discipline‑specific project materials.
  • Work with the hook‑up materials team to verify bagging and tagging requirements in line with project procedures and approved job cards.
  • Develop and implement detailed hook‑up plans, execution strategies, and discipline‑specific construction approaches for offshore and onshore project phases.
  • Provide technical direction to junior engineers and support their delivery of quality work within project timelines.
  • Collaborate with project management and procurement teams to confirm timely availability of materials, equipment, tools, and construction resources.
  • Conduct risk assessments and support mitigation planning to maintain safe execution during hook‑up operations.
  • Ensure hook‑up activities comply with project requirements, industry codes, standards, environmental considerations, and sustainability expectations.
  • Provide daily progress updates to planners and support accurate reporting of construction and completion status.
  • Coordinate with commissioning teams to understand system priorities and ensure construction sequencing supports handover and commissioning readiness.
  • Support commissioning teams with vendor‑related activities that affect hook‑up, system completion, and start‑up preparation.
  • Ensure hook‑up superintendents and offshore construction crews are familiar with scope, execution sequence, materials, constraints, and safety requirements before mobilization.
  • Travel to offshore sites and onshore yard facilities to coordinate discipline interfaces, resolve site issues, and support dynamic construction execution.
  • Participate in toolbox talks and ensure permit‑to‑work requirements are fulfilled before site activities begin.
  • Maintain compliance with company QHSES policies, safe working practices, quality standards, and project execution controls.
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or a related discipline.
  • Equivalent industry experience in offshore hook‑up, construction, completion, or commissioning support may also be considered.
  • 10 years of experience in offshore engineering, hook‑up campaigns, construction execution, or related energy project roles.
  • Strong knowledge of hook‑up activities, offshore construction sequencing, completion systems, work packs, job cards, and material readiness.
  • Good understanding of API, ISO, and relevant industry standards, regulations, and offshore execution practices.
  • Experience using project management tools and software for planning, scheduling, tracking, and reporting hook‑up and commissioning activities.
  • Ability to review drawings, specifications, technical documents, construction work packs, material take‑offs, and project requirements.
  • Strong coordination skills for working with hook‑up managers, superintendents, planners, commissioning teams, procurement, warehouse, fabrication, and offshore crews.
  • Proven ability to resolve technical and interface challenges while maintaining safety, quality, cost, and schedule discipline.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills for guiding junior engineers and working with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, vendors, and clients.
  • Proactive approach to risk assessment, permit‑to‑work compliance, toolbox talks, offshore readiness, and QHSES requirements.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and prioritize resources during fast‑moving offshore execution phases.
  • PMI or equivalent project management certification or training is an advantage.
