The Senior Field Engineer will provide technical leadership for offshore tenders, project preparation, and installation engineering activities. The role connects proposal development with practical offshore execution by evaluating contract documents, defining work methods, selecting vessels and equipment, estimating resources, preparing schedules, and coordinating technical inputs across multiple disciplines.

This position has a direct impact on bid accuracy, project readiness, cost control, subcontract strategy, and safe offshore delivery. The engineer will also guide field engineering teams, resolve complex technical issues, and develop mitigation plans where project risks or execution constraints are identified.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review technical project documentation following contract award and identify discrepancies between pre‑contract and post‑contract requirements.
  • Examine tender method statements, drawings, specifications, and contractual documents for omissions, inconsistencies, or technical deficiencies.
  • Attend bid interviews with local management and participate in global management review sessions.
  • Confirm that technical bid inputs are reviewed and approved by the Division Manager and General Superintendent before submission.
  • Coordinate with the Diving Manager to obtain approval for diving estimates and related execution inputs.
  • Prepare technical clarifications and qualifications covering scope, specifications, drawings, assumptions, and execution requirements.
  • Submit technical clarifications to the Proposal Coordinator within the required tender timeline.
  • Develop engineering execution plans and allocate resources to meet agreed project schedules.
  • Monitor engineering progress and intervene early when technical issues or delays could affect delivery.
  • Lead the preparation of installation procedures, scopes of work, procurement documents, fabrication requirements, drawings, and field sketches.
  • Ensure procurement, fabrication, and installation documents are accurate and compliant with contract requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineering, marine, construction, planning, procurement, subcontracting, diving, safety, and operations teams.
  • Support procurement and subcontracting personnel in selecting technically competent suppliers and service providers.
  • Define the offshore work sequence for each phase of the project.
  • Select suitable equipment based on availability, tender requirements, execution strategy, and management bid philosophy.
  • Determine vessel, barge, lifting, diving, survey, trenching, and installation resource requirements.
  • Develop crew compositions for each project phase and circulate updated manpower plans when conditions change.
  • Estimate activity durations using historical performance data from comparable offshore projects.
  • Prepare bar chart schedules for marine activities, vessel modifications, mobilization, and preparatory work.
  • Estimate offshore miscellaneous costs including barge rig‑ups, temporary designs, port clearances, consumables, and specialist support.
  • Obtain cost and resource inputs from Diving, Electrical and Mechanical, Safety, Marine, and other relevant departments.
  • Identify additional costs required to comply with tender documents and project specifications.
  • Coordinate with Construction Support Engineering to develop technical drawings for bid submissions.
  • Prepare safe work procedures that satisfy project and tender requirements.
  • Review proposal documents and identify offshore work packages suitable for subcontracting.
  • Develop technical descriptions and pricing structures for subcontracted work.
  • Coordinate subcontract pricing and technical requirements with the Subcontracts Administrator and Proposal Coordinator.
  • Prepare offshore subcontract scopes covering survey, dredging, trenching, pipe haul barges, nearshore crossings, and pipeline pre‑commissioning.
  • Review engineering information to confirm that tender proposals contain complete and accurate technical data.
  • Respond to technical clarifications received from tendering subcontractors.
  • Prepare Technical Bid Evaluations for installation vessels, equipment, and offshore service packages.
  • Evaluate subcontractor qualifications and recommend suitable technical and commercial allowances.
  • Review subcontractor qualifications for incorporation into the company 's principal tender qualifications.
  • Provide tender resource and scheduling data to administration, planning, and finance teams for forecasting.
  • Coordinate with all relevant company functions during tender preparation.
  • Review offshore engineering studies completed for proposals and confirm their suitability for the intended operation.
  • Prepare offshore bid summary books for major proposals.
  • Develop Dive Task Plans for diving‑related activities.
  • Lead offshore field engineering activities where assigned and provide technical direction to project teams.
  • Resolve complex field engineering issues and prepare practical mitigation plans.
  • Ensure proposed solutions comply with customer specifications, engineering standards, McDermott procedures, and project policies.
  • Share technical knowledge with less experienced engineers and support development within the field engineering discipline.

Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • 7‑9 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry with a major contractor, EPC company, or engineering consultant.
  • At least 2‑3 years of direct operations and field engineering experience.
  • Strong exposure to offshore installation, marine construction, tender engineering, or proposal development.
  • Practical knowledge of installation vessels, barges, diving operations, survey activities, dredging, trenching, and pipeline pre‑commissioning.
  • Experience preparing technical bids, installation procedures, execution schedules, resource plans, and offshore cost estimates.
  • Ability to review contract documents, identify technical risks, and prepare clarifications or qualifications.
  • Experience developing scopes of work and evaluating offshore subcontractors.
