Senior BIM-CAD Technician – Utility Networks in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is a Civil Engineering opportunity focused on infrastructure modelling, wet and dry utility coordination, clash resolution, technical drawing production, and controlled digital information management. Parsons Corporation is hiring an experienced BIM and CAD professional to develop coordinated models, support client and authority submissions, and maintain accurate design records across multiple infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop BIM models and CAD drawings for wet utilities, dry utilities, drainage, roads, and related infrastructure systems.
- Prepare utility layouts, longitudinal profiles, routing plans, cross-sections, flow sheets, assemblies, isometrics, and component details.
- Build and update utility pipe networks using Autodesk Civil 3D.
- Coordinate modelling requirements with BIM managers, design leads, engineers, and multidisciplinary CAD teams.
- Review incoming design information and promptly identify incomplete inputs, conflicting requirements, or missing technical data.
- Conduct clash detection and model coordination using Navisworks.
- Document clashes, communicate issues to responsible disciplines, monitor corrective actions, and verify closure.
- Resolve model conflicts involving proposed utilities, existing services, roads, drainage, structures, and right-of-way constraints.
- Manage BIM activities from project mobilization and model setup through design review, submission, revision, and closeout.
- Apply approved BIM processes, file naming standards, model structures, and information exchange procedures.
- Review drawings for readability, accuracy, presentation quality, annotation, and compliance with established standards.
- Complete model and drawing checks in accordance with company quality assurance and quality control procedures.
- Create parametric and non-parametric families, templates, blocks, and reusable project content.
- Generate schedules, quantities, and model-based design information.
- Support concept, preliminary, detailed design, authority, tender, and construction-stage submissions.
- Ensure drawings and models comply with DEWA, Dubai Municipality, RTA, and other applicable authority requirements.
- Apply the correct Level of Development requirements to each model element and project stage.
- Maintain complete records of design changes, drawing revisions, review comments, approvals, and project updates.
- Use Autodesk Forma, Bentley ProjectWise, and other approved Common Data Environment platforms for information management.
- Organize and archive completed drawings, models, schedules, reports, and supporting technical documents.
- Coordinate with engineers and discipline leads to resolve differences between drawings, models, calculations, and survey information.
- Customize CAD tools, templates, workspaces, and production workflows to improve efficiency.
- Prepare right-of-way drawings, utility corridors, infrastructure cross-sections, and coordinated routing plans.
- Support technical training and knowledge sharing within the BIM and CAD team.
- Manage several project assignments while maintaining accuracy, traceability, quality, and delivery deadlines.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of BIM and CAD drafting experience in the UAE or wider Middle East and Africa region.
- At least 3 years of direct utility pipe network modelling experience.
- Strong professional background in wet and dry utility infrastructure projects.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, and Navisworks.
- Practical experience using Autodesk Forma and Bentley ProjectWise.
- Knowledge of MicroStation is preferred.
- Strong understanding of BIM workflows, model coordination, and Level of Development requirements.
- Experience managing design information through a Common Data Environment.
- Familiarity with ISO 19650 information management principles.
- Proven capability in clash detection, issue management, and model-based design review.
- Good knowledge of DEWA, Dubai Municipality, and RTA standards.
- Understanding of existing utility protection, relocation, diversion, and coordination requirements.
- Ability to prepare infrastructure models, utility layouts, profiles, routing plans, cross-sections, and detailed drawings.
- Experience producing model schedules and quantity extractions.
- Strong knowledge of revision control, drawing checking, document management, and digital archiving.
- Ability to interpret engineering sketches, survey information, calculations, and technical instructions.
- Strong problem-solving ability with a practical approach to resolving design coordination challenges.
- Capacity to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
- Willingness to guide team members and support continuous technical improvement.
