Role Overview
The Senior BIM CAD Technician supports infrastructure project delivery by transforming design inputs into accurate drawings, coordinated models, schedules, quantities, and submission‑ready digital deliverables. The role helps design teams manage complex utility interfaces, identify clashes early, improve drawing quality, and maintain clear documentation throughout the project lifecycle. Working with BIM managers, design leads, engineers, and stakeholder submission teams, this position strengthens digital coordination and supports reliable delivery of Dubai infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the CAD and BIM Manager, BIM Lead, design leads, and engineers to support project compliance with approved policies, processes, standards, and timelines.
- Prepare, update, and manage CAD drawings and BIM models for infrastructure wet and dry utilities projects.
- Coordinate with multiple CAD and BIM teams to confirm design input requirements, track clashes, and support issue closure before deadlines.
- Use CAD workstations, CAD resources, BIM tools, and engineering inputs to develop drawings from sketches, layouts, flow sheets, assemblies, isometrics, component details, and general design information.
- Prepare basic arrangements, layouts, routing plans, cross sections, utility network drawings, component details, and model‑based design deliverables.
- Manage BIM‑related activities from project start‑up through completion in coordination with design, engineering, and delivery teams.
- Review drawings for readability, presentation quality, technical accuracy, and adherence to company QA and QC processes.
- Create and manage parametric and non‑parametric families to support project modelling requirements.
- Produce schedules, quantity extractions, and model‑based information required for design reviews, reporting, and submissions.
- Support clash detection, clash reporting, clash resolution, and model‑based design review across infrastructure disciplines.
- Document design changes, drawing revisions, model updates, and project amendments for future reference and auditing.
- Manage digital archiving of completed drawings, models, and related project documents in an organized and accessible system.
- Maintain effective communication with team leads, engineers, designers, and other departments to resolve design discrepancies and coordination issues.
- Apply quality control checks to identify drafting, modelling, coordination, or presentation errors early in the design process.
- Customize CAD tools and workflows where appropriate to improve productivity and streamline repetitive design tasks.
- Support client and stakeholder submissions at different project stages by ensuring deliverables are accurate, complete, and well presented.
- Coordinate ROW‑related drawings, cross sections, routing plans, and existing utilities information as required.
- Support training initiatives and knowledge sharing within the BIM team.
- Identify design and review challenges and contribute practical solutions that improve project delivery quality.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of MEA or UAE CAD drafting and BIM experience on infrastructure projects.
- At least 3 years of utility pipe network modelling experience.
- Strong experience with wet and dry utilities projects, infrastructure model preparation, utility layouts, and drawing production.
- Software experience in AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, and Navisworks is required.
- Advanced knowledge of Common Data Environment usage and management for model production.
- Experience with Autodesk Forma and Bentley ProjectWise is preferred.
- MicroStation software knowledge is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of LOD requirements, BIM processes, model coordination, and digital design workflows.
- Good understanding of DEWA, DM, and RTA standards and existing utilities management.
- Experience working with international BIM standards such as ISO 19650 is preferred.
- Strong capability in infrastructure wet and dry utilities model preparation and layout development.
- Experience with clash detection, issue management, and model‑based design review.
- Understanding of ROW‑related requirements, cross sections, and routing plan preparation.
- Ability to identify design coordination issues and support practical solutions during review and production stages.
