School Bus Driver Role Profile

Purpose of Role

The School Bus Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of students and staff between designated pickup points and the school. The role requires ensuring compliance with school transport policies, DOT and ADEK regulations, and maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness and professionalism at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate a school bus on assigned routes and schedules.
  • Pick up and drop off students at designated locations in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with all UAE traffic and school transportation regulations.
  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness.
  • Maintain cleanliness and good condition of the bus at all times.
  • Report any incidents, mechanical issues or delays promptly to the transport coordinator or supervisor.
  • Support safe loading and unloading of students ensuring seatbelts are fastened.
  • Participate in regular safety and training sessions as required by school policy or regulatory authorities.
Health and Safety
  • Emphasizes the importance of safety in all areas of the curriculum, communicating to the pupils the importance of a responsible attitude towards personal safety, the safety of others and respect for Aspen Heights British Schools property and equipment.
  • Safeguard Aspen students.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Assist in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  • Ensure that all the necessary health and safety rules and procedures are being followed.
  • Maintain an awareness of all the health and safety measures to be taken when in school.
Personal and Professional Conduct
  • Treating students with dignity, building relationships rooted in mutual respect and at all times observing proper boundaries appropriate to a teacher’s professional position.
  • Having regard for the need to safeguard students’ well‑being.

Qualities and Expectations
  • Valid UAE Heavy Vehicle (Bus) Driving License (Category 6).
  • Minimum 2 years of professional bus driving experience in the UAE, preferably in a school environment.
  • Good knowledge of Abu Dhabi roads and traffic laws.
  • Clean driving record with no major violations.
  • Basic English communication skills (Arabic and Hindi/Urdu an advantage).
  • Polite, responsible and trustworthy demeanor.
  • Physically fit and able to assist students when needed.
Working Conditions
  • Early morning and late afternoon shifts aligned with school hours.
  • Occasional driving for school trips, events or extracurricular activities.
  • Uniform and safety training provided by the school or transport contractor.
Line Management
  • Reports directly to the Facilities Manager.
  • Works closely with the Administration.
