Job summary

ADNOC Group is seeking a Project Engineer to coordinate capital projects from concept through handover in Abu Dhabi. The role connects engineering, procurement, construction and operations, ensuring alignment with schedule, cost, quality and HSE requirements.

You will monitor interfaces among contractors, licensors and vendors while supporting governance and risk management. The ideal candidate has a minimum of six years in project engineering within Oil & Gas, with FEED to commissioning

Role Context

The Project Engineer supports the controlled progression of assigned capital projects by connecting engineering, procurement, construction and operations activities throughout the project lifecycle. The role provides technical coordination across internal disciplines, Central Engineering, licensors, consultants, EPC contractors and vendors while maintaining visibility of deliverables, risks and execution constraints. Timely follow-up and effective interface management help reduce project delays and improve readiness for commissioning and operational handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Support engineering activities from early project definition through FEED, detailed design, construction, commissioning and final handover.
• Contribute to the development and review of Statements of Requirement for assigned projects.
• Assist in preparing project execution strategies that define technical priorities, interfaces and implementation requirements.
• Provide technical input for tender packages covering engineering consultants, PMC and EPC services.
• Participate in consultant and contractor evaluations during procurement and tendering stages.
• Review engineering documents submitted by contractors and verify alignment with approved scope and specifications.
• Assess proposed construction approaches and methodologies before implementation at site.
• Monitor engineering, procurement and construction activities against planned milestones.
• Identify emerging technical or execution constraints and raise corrective recommendations before schedule impact increases.
• Support value engineering reviews to improve project efficiency without compromising safety or technical integrity.
• Participate in constructability studies and multidisciplinary technical workshops.
• Coordinate project interfaces involving licensors, vendors, contractors and company engineering teams.
• Attend design reviews, coordination meetings and project progress sessions.
• Help maintain effective communication between Engineering, Projects and Operations.
• Follow contractor performance and ensure outstanding technical deliverables receive appropriate attention.

• Review commissioning procedures, readiness documentation and test requirements.
• Track punch list items and support timely closure of outstanding construction and commissioning work.
• Assist in confirming project readiness before transfer to Operations.
• Facilitate facility handover and support start-up activities where required.
• Build a detailed understanding of project scope, contractor interfaces and portfolio priorities.
• Improve coordination between engineering, procurement and field execution teams to support timely project delivery.

Ideal Profile

• Bachelor degree in Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years of project engineering experience within the Oil and Gas industry.
• Experience supporting multidisciplinary projects across several phases of the project lifecycle.
• Practical understanding of FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Ability to review contractor technical submissions and identify deviations from project requirements.
• Familiarity with EPC and PMC project environments.
• Experience coordinating internal engineering disciplines with contractors, licensors and vendors.
• Understanding of project schedule, cost and contractor performance monitoring.
• Ability to identify engineering risks and execution issues at an early stage.
• Familiarity with project variations, claims and contract close-out activities.
• Sound awareness of technical quality assurance and HSE requirements.
