Role Context The Senior Project Engineer - Project Execution provides the technical coordination needed to move complex oil and gas projects from early definition through final operational handover. The position connects engineering disciplines, Central Engineering, operations teams, consultants, PMC organizations, EPC contractors, licensors, vendors and third parties while maintaining alignment with approved project objectives. Success in this position depends on identifying engineering and execution risks early, challenging weak assumptions, resolving multidisciplinary interfaces and keeping technical deliverables aligned with schedule, cost, quality and safety requirements. The engineer also supports project governance through ADNOC Value Assurance Process reviews and ensures that facilities are technically complete and operationally ready before handover.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate project engineering activities across concept development, FEED, detailed engineering, construction, commissioning and handover phases.
  • Develop and review Statements of Requirement to ensure project objectives, technical requirements and execution expectations are clearly defined.
  • Support preparation of project execution strategies covering engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and operational interfaces.
  • Contribute technical input to tender packages for consultants, PMC organizations and EPC contractors.
  • Participate in technical evaluations of engineering consultants, contractors and project service providers.
  • Review contractor engineering deliverables for compliance with project specifications, applicable standards and approved design requirements.
  • Assess construction methodologies and execution plans to identify technical, safety or sequencing concerns before implementation.
  • Monitor engineering and project progress against approved milestones and identify emerging bottlenecks.
  • Recommend corrective actions when engineering interfaces, technical issues or contractor performance threaten delivery targets.
  • Lead or participate in value engineering studies aimed at improving technical effectiveness and capital efficiency.
  • Conduct constructability reviews to identify execution constraints and opportunities before construction activities advance.
  • Facilitate technical workshops and multidisciplinary reviews to resolve design, construction and operational issues.
  • Coordinate closely with Engineering, Operations, Central Engineering, licensors, contractors, vendors and relevant third parties.
  • Manage interfaces between multiple disciplines and organizations to prevent gaps, duplication and conflicting technical requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews, progress meetings, technical clarification sessions and project coordination meetings.
  • Maintain alignment between engineering deliverables and operational requirements throughout project development.
  • Monitor contractor performance in coordination with project controls, contracts and cost management teams.
  • Review project costs and invoices where technical verification is required before approval.
  • Evaluate contractor claims from an engineering and execution perspective and provide supporting information for negotiations.
  • Support contract close-out by verifying completion of outstanding technical and contractual deliverables.
  • Track project variations, engineering changes, emerging risks and execution trends that could influence cost or schedule.
  • Participate in project risk assessments and establish practical mitigation measures for identified engineering risks.
  • Conduct or support Project HSE Reviews in accordance with applicable ADNOC procedures.
  • Participate in ATR reviews and other project assurance activities required by ADNOC governance.
  • Verify compliance with project engineering standards, technical specifications, quality requirements and safety expectations.
  • Review project-level site safety audit plans and monitor appropriate implementation during execution.
  • Maintain accurate project engineering records, correspondence, technical documentation and approval histories.
  • Prepare technical inputs for management progress reports, project reviews and decision-making meetings.
  • Coordinate pre-commissioning activities between contractors, engineering teams and Operations.
  • Review commissioning procedures and verify that planned activities are technically complete and adequately resourced.
  • Assess commissioning readiness documentation before systems are introduced into service.
  • Coordinate resolution of technical issues identified during commissioning and start-up preparation.
  • Monitor punch list progress and drive closure of outstanding engineering and construction items.
  • Verify completion requirements before Provisional Acceptance Certificate issuance.
  • Facilitate structured handover of completed facilities to Operations teams.
  • Support plant start-up, operational readiness and early-stage troubleshooting where project engineering input is required.
Ideal Profile

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor 's degree in Engineering and have at least 8 years of project engineering experience within the oil and gas industry. Candidates should demonstrate strong experience managing multidisciplinary project engineering activities across FEED, detailed design, construction and commissioning phases. A solid understanding of EPC project execution is essential, including contractor management, engineering deliverable review, construction coordination and commissioning preparation. Experience working with project governance and value assurance frameworks will be valuable, particularly where projects are subject to formal stage reviews, technical assurance and investment controls. The position requires the ability to recognize engineering risks before they affect construction or commissioning and to develop practical mitigation strategies with contractors and internal stakeholders. Strong coordination skills are essential because the engineer will routinely manage interfaces between Engineering, Projects, Operations, contractors, consultants, licensors and vendors. Candidates should be confident reviewing technical documentation, challenging contractor proposals and communicating project concerns clearly to multidisciplinary teams and management.
