Role Context
The Project Engineer provides hands-on coordination across technical, commercial and execution interfaces throughout the project lifecycle. The role helps connect Engineering, Operations, Central Engineering, contractors, licensors and vendors so that design outputs, procurement activities, construction requirements and commissioning preparations remain aligned. By identifying constraints early and maintaining close control of technical deliverables, the position contributes to reduced delays, stronger project readiness and a smoother transition of completed facilities into operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support assigned projects from initial concept development through FEED, detailed engineering, construction, commissioning and final handover.
- Contribute technical input to Statements of Requirement and project execution strategies.
- Help translate approved project objectives into practical engineering and execution activities.
- Assist with preparation of tender documentation for engineering consultants, PMC services and EPC contractors.
- Participate in technical assessments of consultants and contractors during tender evaluations.
- Review contractor drawings, calculations, specifications and other engineering submissions against approved project requirements.
- Examine proposed construction methodologies and execution strategies before implementation.
- Follow engineering, procurement and construction progress against planned milestones.
- Identify potential delays, interface conflicts and technical constraints at an early stage.
- Recommend practical actions to recover progress or resolve execution bottlenecks.
- Participate in value engineering studies aimed at improving project efficiency and lifecycle value.
- Support constructability reviews and interdisciplinary technical workshops.
- Coordinate technical matters with licensors, vendors, contractors and internal engineering teams.
- Participate in project meetings, technical reviews and progress discussions.
- Maintain effective coordination between Engineering, Operations and Project teams.
- Follow up contractor performance and outstanding engineering deliverables.
- Work with cost control teams to monitor expenditure, invoices and contractor payment progress.
- Review technical aspects of contractor claims and support negotiation activities when required.
- Assist in closing outstanding contractual and technical matters during contract completion.
- Track project variations and assess their potential effects on cost, schedule and technical scope.
- Maintain awareness of emerging project risks, trends and interface issues.
- Facilitate project risk assessment activities in accordance with approved procedures.
- Participate in PHSER and ATR reviews as required under ADNOC project governance.
- Verify that engineering and execution activities comply with applicable quality, safety and technical standards.
- Support implementation of HSE requirements during engineering, construction and commissioning phases.
- Maintain project correspondence, technical files, engineering records and close-out documentation.
- Provide accurate inputs for project status and management progress reports.
- Coordinate pre-commissioning activities between contractors and Operations personnel.
- Review commissioning procedures, test documentation and readiness plans.
- Follow completion of construction and commissioning punch list items.
- Confirm that outstanding technical requirements are addressed before facility handover.
- Assist with the transfer of completed facilities to Operations.
- Support start-up activities and operational readiness following project completion.
- Develop a detailed understanding of assigned project portfolios, scope boundaries and contractor interfaces.
- Improve communication between engineering, procurement and field execution teams to maintain delivery momentum.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering.
- Minimum 6 years of project engineering experience in the Oil and Gas industry.
- Experience supporting multidisciplinary engineering projects through several lifecycle phases.
- Working knowledge of FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
- Ability to review contractor engineering deliverables and identify compliance concerns.
- Familiarity with EPC and PMC project environments.
- Strong coordination capability across engineering disciplines, vendors, contractors and Operations.
- Practical understanding of project cost, schedule and contractor performance monitoring.
- Ability to recognize engineering and execution risks before they affect project delivery.
- Familiarity with project variations, claims and close-out requirements.
- Knowledge of quality assurance, engineering standards and HSE expectations.
- Experience supporting commissioning, punch list closure and operational handover.
- Strong documentation and reporting discipline.
- Able to manage several technical interfaces while maintaining attention to schedule, cost, quality and safety.
