Job summary

Simone's Tutoring in Dubai seeks an experienced Orton-Gillingham Reading Specialist to provide structured literacy intervention for learners at home, online, or in schools. You will deliver explicit, multisensory instruction and collaborate with families and professionals to support literacy development.

Required are 3+ years of Orton-Gillingham intervention, MOHRE Tutor Permit, and recognised certification; a Master’s degree and international school experience are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Reading, Literacy, Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, or related field.
• MOHRE Tutor Permit or eligibility to obtain.
• Recognised Orton-Gillingham certification from an accredited training provider.
• Minimum 3 years' experience providing structured literacy intervention.
• Excellent understanding of dyslexia and evidence-based reading instruction.

Responsibilities

• Conduct structured literacy assessments within professional scope.
• Review psychoeducational reports where available.
• Deliver one-to-one multisensory reading intervention.
• Teach phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, decoding, encoding, spelling, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and written expression.
• Progress systematically through the Orton-Gillingham sequence.
• Monitor learner progress using ongoing data collection.
• Support school accommodations where appropriate.
• Coach parents on home practice strategies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals.
• Uphold safeguarding and confidentiality standards.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified Orton-Gillingham Reading Specialistto provide structured literacy intervention for children, teenagers, and adults experiencing reading, spelling, writing, and decoding difficulties.

The successful candidate will deliver explicit, systematic, sequential, multisensory instruction based on Orton-Gillingham principles. The specialist will support learners with dyslexia and other literacy-based learning differences while collaborating with parents, schools, tutors, psychologists, speech-language therapists, and other professionals where appropriate.

This role is educational and therapeutic in nature but does notinclude diagnosing learning disorders unless separately qualified and legally authorised to do so.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct structured literacy assessments within professional scope

Master's degree in Literacy, Reading Science, Special Education, or a related discipline

Associate or Certified Level accreditation through recognised Orton-Gillingham organisations

Structured Literacy or Science of Reading certifications

Experience in international schools

Experience supporting learners with dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, and related learning differences

UAE Licensing Requirements

Applicants providing educational intervention must hold a valid MOHRE Tutor Permit or equivalent work authorisation.

Applicants must not diagnose dyslexia or other learning disorders unless separately licensed and legally authorised to do so under UAE regulations.

UAE Visa & Work Eligibility

Applicants must hold valid UAE work authorisation through an Employment Visa, Golden Visa, Green Visa, Freelance Permit, Dependent Visa with legal work eligibility, or another recognised UAE work authorisation.

Payments are processed monthly.

Additional earning opportunities may be available through intensive intervention programmes, literacy workshops, holiday camps, school partnerships, and small group classes.
