Role Overview
Math HOD and Coordinator will lead the development and delivery of mathematics across the school, working closely with teachers and senior leaders to ensure consistent academic standards and exemplary classroom practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the mathematics curriculum.
- Work directly with mathematics teachers to strengthen subject knowledge, teaching skills, and classroom pedagogy.
- Support teachers in preparing schemes of work, lesson plans, assessments and differentiated learning activities.
- Conduct lesson observations and provide clear, practical, developmental feedback.
- Monitor teaching quality to ensure lessons consistently meet expected academic standards.
- Collaborate with school leaders to improve mathematics attainment, progress and instructional performance.
- Analyse student assessment data and identify gaps requiring targeted intervention.
- Develop improvement plans for students, classes and teachers based on measurable evidence.
- Coordinate departmental planning, assessment schedules, moderation and curriculum coverage.
- Promote mathematical reasoning, problem‑solving, numeracy and conceptual understanding.
- Ensure teaching approaches reflect the UAE framework for good classroom practice.
- Lead mathematics department meetings and maintain clear follow‑up actions.
- Mentor teachers through coaching, model lessons, collaborative planning and professional development.
- Review classroom resources, textbooks, assessment materials and digital learning tools.
- Support examination preparation and maintain consistent assessment standards.
- Contribute effectively to whole‑school academic planning and improvement priorities.
- Maintain departmental records, progress reports, curriculum documents and inspection evidence.
- Communicate professionally with teachers, students, parents and school leadership.
- Perform additional responsibilities required for effective management of the mathematics department.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (required).
- Master of Science in Mathematics (preferred).
- Bachelor of Education qualification (required).
- Degrees obtained through distance learning or open universities are NOT accepted.
- Strong mathematics subject knowledge across relevant school grade levels.
- Prior experience as a Mathematics Head of Department, Coordinator or subject leader (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to develop teachers and improve classroom practice.
- Experience analysing student data and implementing academic improvement plans.
- Good understanding of CBSE curriculum standards and assessment requirements.
- Familiarity with the UAE framework for teaching and school quality expectations.
- Strong lesson observation, mentoring and performance management skills.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Effective leadership, communication, organisation and collaboration abilities.
- Strong commitment to student achievement, safeguarding, inclusion and professional standards.
- Must currently be available in the United Arab Emirates.
