Role Overview
The Math Coordinator – Curriculum Leadership position combines classroom teaching responsibilities with subject leadership and curriculum coordination. The coordinator will help improve mathematics provision through structured planning, teacher guidance, assessment review, progress monitoring, and practical academic interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the planning, implementation, and review of the mathematics curriculum.
- Deliver engaging mathematics lessons across assigned grade levels.
- Support teachers in preparing lesson plans, schemes of work, assessments, and classroom resources.
- Monitor curriculum coverage and maintain consistent teaching standards.
- Conduct lesson observations and provide constructive professional feedback.
- Review student attainment and progress data to identify learning gaps.
- Develop targeted intervention plans for students requiring additional support.
- Coordinate formative and summative assessments, moderation, and evaluation of student work.
- Guide teachers in using differentiated strategies for varied learning abilities.
- Promote mathematical reasoning, problem‑solving, numeracy, and conceptual understanding.
- Lead department meetings, collaborative planning sessions, and subject reviews.
- Support teachers through coaching, model lessons, team teaching, and professional development.
- Maintain accurate records of curriculum progress, student performance, and departmental improvement actions.
- Contribute to school improvement planning and academic quality reviews.
- Communicate subject priorities clearly to teachers, students, parents, and school leadership.
- Support mathematics competitions, enrichment activities, and academic events.
- Ensure teaching practices comply with school policies, safeguarding requirements, and professional standards.
- Perform additional teaching and coordination duties required to achieve departmental objectives.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics (mandatory).
- Master’s degree in Mathematics or Bachelor of Education in Mathematics (preferred).
- Minimum 3 years of UAE teaching experience in a similar mathematics role (mandatory).
- Previous mathematics coordination or subject leadership experience (strongly preferred).
- Strong mathematical subject knowledge and curriculum planning capability.
- Experience supporting teachers through lesson observations, coaching, and professional development.
- Ability to analyze student data and design practical improvement strategies.
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Competence in assessment design, moderation, and progress monitoring.
- Effective leadership, communication, organization, and collaboration abilities.
- Commitment to inclusive education, safeguarding, and continuous academic improvement.
