Job summary

Yosh in Abu Dhabi is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Steward to maintain cleanliness and hygiene across the kitchen. You will wash and sanitise crockery and surfaces, operate dishwashing equipment, and support chefs to ensure smooth daily operations.

Candidates should be reliable, physically able, and able to work a rotating schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Prior kitchen cleaning experience is desirable and training may be provided.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in kitchen steward/porter or similar role.
• Understanding of kitchen cleaning practices and food hygiene.
• Ability to follow instructions, schedules and safety procedures.
• Good attention to detail when cleaning and checking equipment.
• Ability to organise tasks and work at pace in a busy kitchen.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently or in a team.
• Good communication and cooperative approach with colleagues.
• Awareness of hazards and ability to report spills and faults promptly.
• Physically able to stand, bend, lift and move kitchen supplies.
• Comfortable working in a warm, busy environment with cleaning products.
• Flexible to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitise kitchen areas, including surfaces, floors, walls, sinks, drains and equipment.
• Wash, rinse, dry and store crockery, cutlery, glassware, pots and utensils.
• Operate dishwashers and cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
• Inspect cleaned items for residue, damage or breakage and rewash when needed.
• Keep kitchen equipment and supplies organised and available for use.
• Remove rubbish, replace bin liners and dispose of waste per procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness in waste storage and food prep areas; clean spills promptly.
• Use cleaning chemicals correctly following product instructions and PPE.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and cross-contamination prevention procedures.
• Receive, move and store deliveries following safe storage and rotation.
• Monitor stock levels and report replenishment needs to supervisor.
• Report equipment faults, maintenance needs and safety incidents promptly.
• Maintain cleaning equipment and storage spaces in good condition.
• Work cooperatively with chefs and kitchen staff to support operations.
• Follow health, safety, fire safety, manual handling and security procedures.
• Perform other kitchen and cleaning duties as assigned.
