Role Context
The HVAC Technician supports the Engineering team in maintaining comfortable and dependable indoor environments across guest areas, operational spaces and technical facilities. Working under the guidance of senior technicians, the role focuses on routine inspections, servicing and basic fault identification across fan coil units, air handling systems and ventilation equipment. Consistent maintenance helps prevent unexpected failures, supports energy-efficient operation and protects the guest experience within a high-demand resort environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with planned preventive maintenance of FCUs, AHUs, FAHUs, exhaust fans and ventilation systems.
- Support corrective maintenance activities when HVAC equipment develops operational faults.
- Perform basic inspections of filters, belts, drains and lubrication points.
- Check equipment condition and report abnormal noise, vibration, leakage or performance issues.
- Assist senior technicians during fault diagnosis and equipment repairs.
- Support replacement of basic serviceable HVAC components under supervision.
- Help inspect condensate drainage systems and identify blockages or water leakage.
- Assist with cleaning filters, coils and accessible HVAC components as required.
- Attend breakdown calls and provide technical support during urgent maintenance activities.
- Participate in planned shutdown work involving HVAC equipment.
- Follow instructions from senior technicians, supervisors and Engineering management.
- Maintain accurate logbook entries covering inspections and completed maintenance activities.
- Report unresolved faults and equipment concerns to senior technical personnel.
- Follow approved Permit-to-Work requirements for applicable maintenance activities.
- Comply with Health and Safety procedures while using tools and working around mechanical equipment.
- Maintain tools and basic HVAC maintenance equipment in safe working condition.
- Keep plant rooms, workshops and work areas clean and organized.
- Coordinate with other Engineering trades when HVAC maintenance requires additional technical support.
- Assist with basic operational checks after maintenance to confirm equipment has returned to service.
- Develop practical HVAC troubleshooting knowledge through supervised field work and technical training.
- Support continuous improvement in maintenance quality and equipment reliability.
Ideal Profile
- ITI or Trade Certificate in HVAC or a related technical field.
- Minimum 2-3 years of HVAC maintenance experience.
- Previous experience in hotels, resorts, commercial buildings or similar facilities is preferred.
- Basic understanding of air conditioning and ventilation systems.
- Familiarity with FCUs, AHUs, FAHUs and exhaust fans.
- Able to perform routine inspections and basic preventive maintenance tasks.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC tools and safe equipment handling.
- Willingness to learn advanced troubleshooting and maintenance techniques.
- Able to follow technical instructions and work effectively under supervision.
- Understanding of basic Health and Safety requirements.
- Comfortable supporting breakdown response and planned shutdown activities.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Able to maintain clear maintenance records and communicate equipment concerns promptly.
