The HSES Technician supports frontline safety execution by applying established HSES Management Systems to routine and nonstandard operational situations. Working alongside HSE Advisors and Supervisors, the technician helps convert regulatory requirements and company procedures into practical controls that protect employees, equipment, and project operations. The position has a strong field component. Regular workplace observations, equipment inspections, Job Safety Analysis support, incident investigation assistance, and direct workforce coaching allow the technician to identify emerging hazards before they contribute to injuries, environmental events, equipment damage, or project disruption. The role also contributes to prevention planning and HSES performance improvement by helping implement scheduled activities, recording findings accurately, and providing technical input into corrective actions.
A Diploma or equivalent technical certification is required. Candidates should have approximately 2-3 years of relevant HSES experience, preferably gained within industrial, construction, fabrication, marine, offshore, oil and gas, or major project operations. Practical exposure to both onshore and offshore technical activities is important for understanding the varied hazards associated with the role. The preferred candidate will be familiar with local and international environmental, occupational health, and safety requirements and capable of applying established standards in field situations. Experience conducting workplace inspections, identifying unsafe acts and conditions, and communicating corrective actions is expected. Exposure to incident investigation is required, while familiarity with incident investigation and analysis software is preferred. Candidates should understand Toolbox Talks, Job Safety Analyses, emergency response requirements, plant inspections, and proactive hazard prevention. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required for preparation of reports, records, presentations, and supporting HSES documentation. Good written and spoken communication skills are important because the technician will interact regularly with field personnel, supervisors, HSES professionals, and operational teams. The position requires someone capable of working independently with limited guidance while recognizing when an issue requires escalation. A practical, coaching-oriented approach is valuable. The successful candidate should be comfortable guiding others, encouraging teamwork, and helping operational personnel improve the way work is performed safely.
