The position has a strong field component. Regular workplace observations, equipment inspections, Job Safety Analysis support, incident investigation assistance, and direct workforce coaching allow the technician to identify emerging hazards before they contribute to injuries, environmental events, equipment damage, or project disruption. The role also contributes to prevention planning and HSES performance improvement by helping implement scheduled activities, recording findings accurately, and providing technical input into corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply established HSES Management Systems when addressing safety, health, environmental, and operational issues.
  • Work with HSE Advisors and Supervisors to evaluate HSES concerns and determine suitable corrective solutions.
  • Maintain current working knowledge of relevant local and international HSES laws, regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Provide technical support to ensure operational activities comply with applicable company and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in developing and administering proactive incident prevention programs.
  • Support implementation of the approved HSES activity plan.
  • Track assigned HSES activities and help ensure scheduled actions are completed within required timeframes.
  • Conduct regular inspections of operational and work areas.
  • Identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and departures from required procedures.
  • Communicate identified hazards to relevant supervisors and support appropriate corrective action.
  • Intervene appropriately when personnel are observed performing work unsafely.
  • Coach workers on safer methods and reinforce approved work practices.
  • Conduct compliance evaluations covering equipment, structures, and work in progress.
  • Verify that environmental, health, and safety requirements are being applied during project execution.
  • Review workplace conditions against applicable codes, standards, and company procedures.
  • Observe the physical condition of plant, machinery, and operational equipment.
  • Report equipment deficiencies, unsafe conditions, or maintenance concerns to the appropriate Supervisor.
  • Assist with incident investigations following safety, environmental, equipment, or operational events.
  • Support collection of evidence, statements, observations, and other investigation information.
  • Contribute to preparation and compilation of incident investigation reports.
  • Assist with analysis of incident causes and identification of corrective or preventive measures.
  • Use incident investigation and analysis software where available and applicable.
  • Support emergency response activities according to project procedures.
  • Assist with medical evacuations when required.

  • Assist supervisors and work teams with Job Safety Analyses.
  • Review JSA content against planned activities and observed field conditions.
  • Encourage workforce participation in hazard identification before work begins.
  • Monitor implementation of agreed JSA controls during execution.
  • Provide HSES guidance to work groups performing routine and nonroutine activities.
  • Promote proactive reporting of hazards, unsafe acts, near misses, and equipment deficiencies.
  • Support field teams working in both onshore and offshore environments.
  • Maintain accurate inspection, observation, incident, and compliance records.
  • Prepare clear written HSES communications and supporting documentation.
  • Use Microsoft Office applications for reports, records, presentations, and HSES tracking activities.
  • Work independently on assigned HSES activities while escalating significant risks appropriately.
  • Apply existing technical knowledge to standard and nonstandard HSES situations.
  • Use recognized best practices to support improvements in safety processes and operational performance.
  • Assist in identifying recurring field issues that could benefit from revised controls or preventive measures.

Ideal Profile

A Diploma or equivalent technical certification is required. Practical exposure to both onshore and offshore technical activities is important for understanding the varied hazards associated with the role. The preferred candidate will be familiar with local and international environmental, occupational health, and safety requirements and capable of applying established standards in field situations. Experience conducting workplace inspections, identifying unsafe acts and conditions, and communicating corrective actions is expected. Candidates should understand Toolbox Talks, Job Safety Analyses, emergency response requirements, plant inspections, and proactive hazard prevention.
