Associate HSES Specialist – SafetyLocation: Dubai, United Arab EmiratesIndustry: Oil and EnergyFunction: Occupational Health and SafetyJob Type: Full‑timeThis role provides field HSES support in a demanding energy environment, promoting safe practices, monitoring hazards, and ensuring compliance with local and international safety requirements. The specialist works with supervisors and frontline teams to reduce unsafe acts, improve compliance, and build a stronger safety culture across operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide visible HSE leadership to field personnel and promote safe standards of conduct across work areas.
- Support HSES Specialists and Supervisors in planning, implementing, and coordinating programs that prevent or correct hazardous conditions.
- Maintain working knowledge of current HSES policies, procedures, regulations, codes, and operational safety requirements.
- Ensure company HSE policies and procedures are consistently implemented, understood, and followed by employees.
- Carry out regular work‑area inspections to identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and potential operational risks.
- Advise line management of hazards that cannot be corrected immediately and support follow‑up until resolution.
- Assist with incident investigations, evidence gathering, reporting, and corrective action documentation.
- Monitor the maintenance and inspection status of lifesaving equipment and firefighting equipment.
- Assist with medical evacuations and respond quickly to emergency situations when required.
- Ensure HSE communications from line management, including performance updates, statistics, critical notices, and safety alerts, are shared through notice boards and HSES meetings.
- Observe workgroups during active tasks and intervene when unsafe acts or unsafe practices are identified.
- Keep supervisors informed of recurring unsafe behavior, safety concerns, and worksite observations.
- Coach personnel on safe work methods and provide practical guidance to improve task execution.
- Observe plant and equipment conditions, including cranes, forklifts, and related operational assets, and report deficiencies to the relevant supervisor.
- Assist supervision during toolbox talks and help reinforce key safety messages before work begins.
- Support a proactive safety culture by encouraging hazard reporting, open communication, and immediate correction of unsafe conditions.
Ideal Profile
- Degree, diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant HSES, HSE, occupational safety, field safety, construction safety, offshore safety, fabrication yard safety, or energy industry safety experience.
- Working knowledge of HSES practices, hazard identification, safety inspections, emergency response, and incident reporting.
- Understanding of local and international HSES laws, codes, regulations, and industry norms.
- Ability to maintain key competencies required for the HSES function.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills for reports, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and field coordination.
- Good presentation skills with the confidence to communicate safety expectations to workers and supervisors.
- Practical awareness of lifesaving equipment, firefighting equipment, medivac support, and emergency response procedures.
- Ability to identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions while maintaining professional and constructive communication.
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with field personnel, supervisors, line management, and HSES teams.
- Organized approach to follow‑up, documentation, inspection findings, and corrective actions.
- Ability to work in a busy oil and energy environment where safety discipline, quick judgment, and field presence are important.
