Role Context

The Electrical Technician plays a critical part in maintaining safe and reliable electrical services throughout the resort. Continuous power availability supports guest rooms, restaurants, public spaces, technical areas, life safety systems, entertainment facilities, and essential back-of-house operations. The position requires an experienced technician who can work independently, diagnose faults accurately, complete planned maintenance, and respond effectively during electrical emergencies. Strong technical awareness of distribution equipment, protection devices, controls, backup power systems, and electrical testing procedures is essential to minimize downtime and maintain operational safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, maintain, and repair electrical distribution systems throughout assigned resort areas.
• Work on single-phase and three-phase electrical circuits and associated protection equipment.
• Troubleshoot wiring faults, circuit failures, electrical controls, and connection issues.
• Maintain electrical distribution boards and low-voltage switchgear systems.
• Inspect circuit breakers, isolators, protection devices, and electrical connections for safe operation.
• Maintain distribution transformers and associated electrical equipment.
• Carry out preventive and condition-based maintenance on electrical assets.
• Inspect and repair motors, starters, contactors, relays, and control circuits.
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical and electronic wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
• Diagnose faults in lighting systems and repair associated wiring, controls, and fittings.
• Maintain guestroom lighting and electrical systems in accordance with property standards.
• Support operation and maintenance of guestroom management systems.
• Inspect and maintain central battery systems serving emergency lighting installations.
• Monitor emergency lighting and electrical life safety systems for correct operation.
• Maintain diesel generators and support routine checks of emergency power equipment.
• Inspect and test uninterrupted power supply systems.
• Monitor and maintain automatic transfer switches and related emergency power equipment.
• Support building energy management systems and associated electrical controls.
• Inspect electrical distribution systems for overheating, loose connections, abnormal loading, or equipment deterioration.
• Use amp meters, multimeters, insulation testers, and other electrical diagnostic instruments.
• Perform cable termination and lug crimping using appropriate tools.
• Carry out cable jointing activities using approved cable joint kits and procedures.
• Verify electrical connections and equipment performance following installation or repair.
• Record test readings and identify conditions requiring corrective action.
• Respond to electrical breakdowns and urgent maintenance requests.
• Support electrical work during building emergencies and power interruptions.
• Escalate major electrical defects, safety risks, and recurring failures to supervisors or managers.
• Assist with facilities maintenance activities involving mechanical, fire life safety, audio-visual, and other resort systems when required.
• Maintain familiarity with electrical rooms, distribution locations, service routes, and emergency equipment across the property.
• Complete assigned technical tasks independently and within required service standards.
• Perform shift coverage based on operational requirements.
• Follow electrical safety procedures, isolation practices, and personal protective equipment requirements.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas before, during, and after maintenance tasks.
• Keep electrical tools, test instruments, and issued equipment in good working condition.
• Ensure applicable testing equipment remains correctly calibrated.
• Maintain accurate records of completed work, outstanding defects, and maintenance requirements.
• Assist in training and developing less experienced technical colleagues.

Ideal Profile

• Trade school qualification, technical diploma, vocational certificate, or equivalent education in electrical engineering or electrical maintenance.
• Minimum 6 years of practical facilities maintenance experience within an electrical trade.
• Strong working knowledge of single-phase and three-phase electrical distribution.
• Experienced with electrical wiring, circuit protection, motors, starters, and control systems.
• Familiar with low-voltage distribution boards and switchgear.
• Good understanding of electrical distribution transformers.
• Practical experience maintaining lighting fixtures, wiring, and control systems.
• Knowledge of guestroom management systems is advantageous.
• Familiar with central battery systems and emergency lighting installations.
• Experience with diesel generators and emergency power equipment.
