Role Context
The Civil Inspector will provide hands‑on site supervision across irrigation, landscaping, civil, and infrastructure works where several construction disciplines may operate simultaneously. The role requires accurate field testing, verification of workmanship, monitoring of underground and structural activities, and prompt identification of defective or non‑compliant work. Effective inspection will help maintain construction quality, protect installed assets, improve contractor accountability, and support safe project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform continuous inspection of assigned construction activities against contract drawings, specifications, codes, and approved procedures.
- Inspect irrigation, landscaping, and general infrastructure works throughout construction.
- Conduct or witness civil and structural testing required for acceptance of completed work.
- Verify soil compaction and moisture content during earthworks and backfilling.
- Review aggregate grading and related material test results.
- Witness concrete slump, air entrainment, compression, and coring tests where applicable.
- Verify construction lines, grades, and levels through coordination with survey personnel.
- Inspect bolt torque requirements for structural or equipment installations.
- Carry out or witness destructive and nondestructive material testing where required.
- Monitor magnetic particle, dye penetrant, radiographic, tension, compression, paint thickness, and resistivity testing when included in the project scope.
- Inspect underground piping to confirm correct bedding, grade, alignment, and tightness.
- Monitor piling installation and verify required position and bearing conditions.
- Check piping installations against approved P and ID information.
- Witness hydraulic and other pressure tests on installed piping systems.
- Inspect electrical installation interfaces for grounding, circuit integrity, and compliance with statutory and client requirements.
- Monitor painting and insulation activities for required thickness and continuous coverage.
- Inspect contractor and subcontractor workmanship across assigned construction activities.
- Identify defective, incomplete, or non‑conforming work and document findings.
- Participate in evaluating corrective measures and follow‑up actions for non‑conformances.
- Verify equipment alignment and balancing operations where relevant to the assigned works.
- Support development and maintenance of quality control procedures and inspection reports.
- Participate in preparation of job‑specific safety practices and site safety documentation.
- Identify unsafe construction conditions and escalate issues requiring corrective action.
- Administer or witness welder qualification testing when required.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and supporting site documentation.
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, QA‑QC personnel, and other inspection disciplines.
- Ensure completed activities are accepted before subsequent construction proceeds.
Ideal Profile
- Associate degree or bachelor 's degree in an engineering, technical, or construction‑related discipline.
- A high school qualification combined with equivalent relevant experience may also be considered.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant construction and supervision experience.
- Demonstrated experience with irrigation works.
- Practical background in landscaping construction.
- Experience supervising civil and infrastructure activities.
- Recent irrigation project experience in Dubai is advantageous.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Thorough understanding of construction processes within the assigned inspection discipline.
- Familiarity with soil, concrete, piping, structural, and utility inspection activities.
- Ability to identify non‑conforming workmanship and material issues.
- Understanding of field quality control procedures.
- Knowledge of construction site safety requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
