Role Context
The Civil Inspector will provide continuous site oversight across irrigation, landscaping, utility, and general infrastructure packages. The position requires close attention to construction quality at each stage, from earthworks and underground piping through concrete, coatings, equipment installation, and final inspection. Accurate field records and timely identification of non-conforming work will support safe construction, effective corrective action, and reliable project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect irrigation, landscaping, civil, and infrastructure works against approved drawings and contract specifications.
- Maintain continuous surveillance of assigned construction activities and workmanship.
- Witness soil compaction and moisture testing for earthworks and backfill.
- Review aggregate grading and associated field or laboratory test results.
- Monitor concrete slump, air entrainment, compression testing, and concrete coring where required.
- Confirm lines, grades, levels, and related survey requirements.
- Inspect structural and equipment connections, including specified bolt torque requirements.
- Witness destructive and nondestructive tests on construction materials when included in the project scope.
- Monitor magnetic particle, dye penetrant, radiographic, tensile, compression, coating thickness, and resistivity tests as applicable.
- Inspect underground piping for correct bedding, alignment, slope, and tightness.
- Monitor piling installation for location, alignment, and bearing requirements.
- Verify piping installations against approved P and ID documentation.
- Witness hydraulic and other pressure testing of completed piping systems.
- Inspect electrical interfaces for grounding, circuit continuity, and compliance with applicable requirements.
- Check painting and insulation works for required thickness, coverage, and continuity.
- Review contractor and subcontractor workmanship across assigned activities.
- Identify defects and construction non-conformances before work proceeds to subsequent stages.
- Document inspection findings and support resolution of non-compliant work.
- Verify equipment alignment and balancing where relevant to the assigned scope.
- Contribute to quality control reports and project inspection procedures.
- Participate in site safety planning and preparation of safety-related reports.
- Identify hazardous work conditions and communicate required corrective actions.
- Witness or administer welder qualification tests when required.
- Maintain complete inspection records, reports, and supporting construction documentation.
- Coordinate inspection activities with engineers, QA-QC personnel, contractors, and specialist site teams.
- Verify that inspected works satisfy acceptance requirements before approval.
Ideal Profile Candidates
Ideal Profile Candidates should bring a strong field inspection background supported by relevant engineering or construction qualifications.
- Associate degree or bachelor 's degree in an engineering, technical, or construction-related discipline.
- Equivalent construction experience may be considered alongside a high school qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant construction supervision or inspection experience.
- Practical experience in irrigation construction is required.
- Background in landscaping works is important.
- Experience with general infrastructure and civil works.
- Recent irrigation project experience in Dubai is advantageous.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Good understanding of field inspection and construction quality processes.
- Knowledge of soil, concrete, underground piping, piling, and utility inspection.
- Ability to recognize construction deficiencies and non-conforming work.
- Familiarity with quality control procedures and site reporting.
- Sound knowledge of construction safety practices.
