Job Description

The Department of Psychiatry at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) at the United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The candidate is expected to have a demonstrable capability and experience in the following areas: 1. Teaching and assessing undergraduate medical students at various levels, focusing on psychiatric theory, clinical practice, and behavioural sciences. 2. Coordinating the clinical training of medical students in the affiliated hospitals, ensuring a high standard of education and hands-on experience in psychiatric assessments, therapeutic interventions, and case management. 3. Providing clinical services at a consultant level at hospitals affiliated with the university, contributing to patient care in the community. 4. Developing and maintaining both internally and externally funded research projects in the field of mental health and neurosciences. The candidate is encouraged to engage in interdisciplinary collaborations within the university and with affiliated hospitals. International research partnerships will also be supported. 5. Publishing research findings in high-impact journals and contributing to the advancement of psychiatric knowledge through scholarly activities. 6. Active participation in the college’s educational and administrative functions, including service on various academic and clinical committees. 7. Playing a key role in the growth and development of the department and contributing to the broader objectives of the university.

Minimum Qualifications

An MD or MBBS degree and certification of specialisation in psychiatry from the American Board or equivalent from Europe, Australasia, or North America, with recognised advanced training in their respective subspecialty. Demonstrated experience in teaching, clinical care, and research in the field of Psychiatry, as evidenced by their records in these fields.

Experience/Skills
  • Experience in international medical examinations and accreditation processes,
  • Knowledge of graduate medical education program operations and international accreditation standards,
  • Familiarity with psychiatric research methodologies, including clinical trials, epidemiological studies, and neuroscience research,
  • Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Subspecialty training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, General Adult Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, or Neuropsychiatry is desirable,
  • A strong track record in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, curriculum development, and student mentorship
