Job summary

Role Context

The Advisor - Safety Health and Environment will provide site-based leadership for safety, health, and environmental performance across construction and project operations. The position combines field inspections, regulatory compliance, risk assessment, incident management, workforce engagement, and performance analysis to reduce operational exposure and strengthen preventive safety practices. Close collaboration with project managers, contractors, supervisors, employees, authorities, and external specialists will be central to maintaining disciplined and accountable site operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled and unannounced site inspections to identify unsafe conditions, hazardous activities, and compliance gaps.
• Perform detailed SHE audits and track findings through corrective action and verified closure.
• Develop and implement site-specific safety procedures, inspection programs, controls, and improvement initiatives.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe occurrences using structured root cause analysis.
• Recommend corrective and preventive measures based on investigation findings and recurring risk patterns.
• Monitor construction activities for compliance with UAE occupational health and safety regulations and project requirements.
• Deliver safety inductions, toolbox sessions, awareness programs, and targeted training for site personnel.
• Evaluate hazards associated with new activities, equipment, temporary works, construction methods, and operational changes.
• Review risk assessments and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented before work proceeds.
• Analyze safety statistics, inspection data, incident trends, and leading indicators to identify areas requiring intervention.
• Coordinate with project management teams to integrate SHE requirements into daily construction planning and execution.
• Maintain inspection reports, incident records, training documentation, audit findings, risk assessments, and regulatory records.
• Monitor the selection and correct use of personal protective equipment and specialist safety equipment.
• Escalate serious hazards and critical non-compliance issues to responsible management without unnecessary delay.
• Support environmental compliance initiatives covering waste, pollution prevention, resource control, and responsible site practices.
• Coordinate with government authorities, consultants, contractors, and specialist safety providers when required.
• Participate in management reviews, safety meetings, site coordination meetings, and contractor performance discussions.

Ideal Profile

• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in safety, health, and environment roles involving site supervision.
• Proven background in construction, infrastructure, industrial, or similarly complex operational environments.
• Strong working knowledge of UAE and GCC occupational health and safety legislation and compliance requirements.
• Practical experience conducting site inspections, formal audits, incident investigations, and hazard assessments.
• Hands-on knowledge of safety management systems and structured risk management processes.
• Ability to analyze safety data and turn trends into practical improvement measures.
• Experience developing and delivering safety training to personnel at different levels of responsibility.
• Strong understanding of construction hazards, work controls, PPE requirements, and safe systems of work.
• Familiarity with ISO 45001 or comparable occupational health and safety management standards is preferred.
• NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent occupational health and safety certification is advantageous.
• Exposure to environmental compliance or sustainability initiatives would strengthen suitability for the role.
• Capable of maintaining detailed and audit-ready safety documentation.
• Confident communicating safety requirements to contractors, supervisors, project managers, and senior stakeholders.
