Role Context

The Safety Health and Environment Advisor will provide practical SHE oversight across active construction sites, ensuring that hazards are identified before they affect personnel, operations, or project performance. Working alongside project managers, supervisors, contractors, and site teams, the advisor will translate regulatory and organizational requirements into effective field controls. The position will also use inspections, investigations, performance data, and workforce engagement to strengthen preventive safety practices throughout project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain project safety, health, and environmental procedures aligned with UAE requirements and applicable international standards.
  • Conduct systematic hazard identification and risk assessments across construction activities, work areas, and site operations.
  • Recommend practical mitigation measures based on identified risks and verify their implementation in the field.
  • Carry out routine construction site inspections to assess working conditions, behaviors, equipment, and compliance with approved safety requirements.
  • Perform SHE audits and document findings, non-conformances, observations, and required corrective actions.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions using structured root cause analysis techniques.
  • Establish corrective and preventive actions following investigations and monitor them through effective closure.
  • Work with project management and construction supervision teams to incorporate safety requirements into work planning and execution.
  • Review changing site conditions and advise teams when additional controls or revised working methods are necessary.
  • Deliver safety inductions, toolbox support, awareness sessions, and targeted training for workers, supervisors, and management personnel.
  • Reinforce safe working practices through regular engagement with contractors and construction teams.
  • Maintain accurate records covering inspections, incidents, investigations, training, risk assessments, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Monitor safety performance indicators and identify trends requiring additional intervention.
  • Evaluate existing SHE programs and recommend improvements based on site observations and performance results.
  • Prepare management reports and presentations covering safety performance, significant risks, incidents, and compliance status.
  • Support preparation of information and documentation required by regulatory authorities.
  • Coordinate with external agencies and relevant regulatory bodies on safety compliance matters when required.
  • Maintain current knowledge of UAE labor requirements, construction safety regulations, and relevant industry standards.
  • Provide technical guidance on SHE matters raised by project stakeholders.
  • Promote environmental responsibility and safe construction practices throughout project activities.
Ideal Profile

Candidates should have at least 7 years of professional experience in safety, health, and environmental management within the construction industry. Detailed knowledge of UAE labor requirements, construction safety regulations, and recognized industry practices is important. Candidates should be able to independently conduct hazard assessments, evaluate construction risks, perform site inspections, and recommend workable control measures. Practical experience investigating incidents and near misses is required, including the ability to conduct root cause analysis and convert findings into corrective and preventive actions.
