Position Overview:
Role: Financial Accountant
Level: Middle Management
Reports to: Managing Director
Employment Type: Permanent
Location: Cape Town
Remuneration: Market-related
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and goals
- Prepare financial statements, reports, and budgets
- Establish and improve financial system controls
- Monitor and manage financial accounting, reporting, and cash flow
- Maintain banking relationships and ensure operational funding
- Forecast costs, revenues, and manage contract/project financials
- Manage tax payments and ensure group-wide tax efficiency
- Analyze and report financial variances with cost-saving strategies
- Assist the MD with budgeting and financial decision-making
- Oversee capital budgeting and financial forecasting
- Conduct internal audits and coordinate external audit processes
- Maintain accurate ledgers, accounts, and financial records
- Support the development, mentorship, and upskilling of the finance team
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures
- Relevant Degree in Finance or Accounting
- Minimum 5 years' finance experience in the construction industry
- Must reside in Cape Town
- Proficient in Buildsmart and MS Office
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans (both verbal and written)
- South African Citizen
- Valid, unendorsed driver's license and own vehicle
- Professional discretion and a service-oriented approach
- Strong technical skills across financial systems and controls
- High accuracy, analytical mindset, and financial acumen
- Effective team player with leadership and mentorship capabilities
