Job summary

Placements24 in Queenstown, Eastern Cape, seeks an inspiring Youth Mentor and Development Officer to guide and support young people toward their full potential through mentoring, skills programs, and positive engagement.

You will work remotely for most sessions, with occasional in-person interactions, helping youth build confidence, life skills, and pathways to education and employment within the Eastern Cape.

Qualifications

• Experience in youth work, mentoring, counseling, or community development.
• Strong understanding of adolescent psychology and developmental needs.
• Excellent communication, active listening, and motivational skills.
• Ability to design and deliver engaging youth programs and workshops.
• Proficiency in using digital platforms for remote communication and program delivery.

Responsibilities

• Establish rapport and build trusting relationships with young people from diverse backgrounds.
• Develop and implement individualized development plans based on youth aspirations and needs.
• Facilitate workshops and training sessions on leadership, communication, career readiness, and financial literacy.
• Provide guidance and support in navigating educational pathways and seeking employment opportunities.
• Act as a positive role model, promoting responsible decision-making and healthy lifestyles.
