About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly organized and client-focused Wedding & Function Catering Manager to lead their specialized events team in Paarl, Western Cape . This role demands a blend of logistical prowess, sales acumen, and a deep understanding of the nuances of wedding and function catering. You will be responsible for managing the entire catering process for events, from initial client contact and menu customization to flawless on-site execution. This hybrid role requires a balance of on-site event coordination and off‑site planning, offering flexibility while ensuring the highest standards of service in the picturesque Western Cape .

Key Responsibilities

Manage all aspects of wedding and function catering, ensuring seamless event execution. Consult with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and budget, offering expert recommendations. Develop customized menus and beverage packages, accommodating diverse dietary requirements. Oversee event setup, service delivery, and breakdown, ensuring impeccable presentation and client satisfaction. Lead and coordinate catering staff during events, providing clear direction and ensuring high service standards. Manage vendor relationships, including florists, rental companies, and entertainment providers. Maintain strong communication channels with clients throughout the planning process and during events. Control costs and manage budgets effectively for each event. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations. Conduct post-event evaluations and gather client feedback to drive continuous improvement. Contribute to sales efforts by identifying opportunities and building client relationships.

Requirements

A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in catering management, event planning, or a related hospitality role, with a focus on weddings and functions. Proven experience in client consultation and sales, with a track record of success. Excellent understanding of food and beverage service, menu planning, and costing. Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle challenging situations with grace. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with event management software. A creative approach to menu design and event concepts. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as dictated by event schedules, with a need for on‑site presence in Paarl, Western Cape .
