Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Water Resources Engineer for a civil engineering client in Rustenburg. The role blends remote work with in-office collaboration to deliver water supply, wastewater, stormwater and flood management projects.

You will apply hydrological principles, run advanced modeling (HEC-RAS, SWMM, EPANET), prepare reports and drawings, ensure regulatory compliance, and mentor junior engineers while contributing to community water security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
• Professional registration (Pr. Eng. or Pr. Tech. Eng.) with ECSA preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in water resources engineering.
• Proficiency in water modeling software such as HEC-RAS, EPANET, and SWMM.
• Experience with GIS software for spatial analysis and data visualization.
• Strong knowledge of South African water legislation and environmental policies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; project management is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop water infrastructure projects including treatment plants and drainage systems.
• Conduct hydrological and hydraulic modeling using industry-standard software.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, EIA, and design drawings.
• Ensure designs comply with water quality standards and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with project managers, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
• Perform site investigations and data collection for planning and design.
• Develop strategies for sustainable water management and conservation.
• Review contractor submittals and provide technical support during construction.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development.
